MS3
Hey everyone, I'm brand new to Mazda and just picked up an 07 MS3 with 16,500 miles on it.

Does anyone know a good website that can teach me some about tuning / upkeep for a turbocharged car?

My MS3 has a few mods on it:
Injen SRI
HKS SSQV BoV
HKS Exhaust
Turbo XS downpipe
COBB Rear anti sway bar
ASA 18" wheels w Goodyear Eagle F1 tires

Not installed
Turbo XS racepipe
raptor headlight system

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

get an Cobb Accessport or CP-e Standback for engine managment. Running the car with those mods and no tune isnt very safe.

Congrats on your purchase

Injen SRI?

Did you get an Injen CAI and cut it? Because AFAIK, Injen doesn't make an SRI for our car.

I picked it up for $17,5 but I'm stationed in Germany so the prices for cars like this is a little steep due to obvious lack of availability.

The car came with the SRI and as far as I can tell it doesn't look cut, but I guess anything is possible lol. I'll double check that in a bit though and post what I find.

you might want to take a look a some of the motor/tranny mounts. the first production year (2007) had problems with them.

as for "upkeep" on a turbocharged car there are only a couple REALLY important things to remember: don't run hard on a cold engine, don't shut it off right away after beating on it. everything else is just basic car stuff like when to change the fluids/lubricants, types of windshield wipers, whatever you can think of.

but with you modding (and pretty much already having the stuff on there now) i'd get a nice set of monitoring devices so you know whats going on

Can anyone tell me if it will be hard to install the race pipe? I have access to a lift but am wondering if it can all be done from under the car. Is it just a matter of unbolting the the pipes where the second cat is and replacing that with the race pipe?

Of course I won't be doing this until the AP arrives.

yea bro look into motormounts. it helps out so much. btw make sure you wash that car underneath as much as possible. im stationed down here in spangdahlem and this last started taking its toll on my car.

change your oil often, and check your plugs all the time. if you are driving around with those mods on and no tuning, you could blow the motor. to be safe, dont part throttle boost. it puts excessive strain on the engine. drive around town in vacuum, and if you are going to get on it then give it all its got, just make sure you are above 3000rpms. you dont want load the motor up with alot of boost it cant use, like cruising at 60mph in 5th gear and going full throttle, that stresses the motor out as well, downshift! haha. honestly though, get a tune and some gauges to know whats going on when you drive.

Cheeto I know what you mean. The amount of salt they put on the roads here is insane. I'm going back to the states in Feb. so my car will luckily only have to suffer German winter once.

I've been looking into the motor mounts. That will probably be next after the AP.

Thanks for the info bykeryder4life, I didn't know over half of the things you just told me. You probably just saved me a lot of money :)

I think there shouldn't be too much rust since the race pipe was on the car once before but was removed so the car could pass inspection. I'll bring some PB along just incase though!
