New Years Eve Boredom

Well, my wife had to work the night shift on New Years Eve, so of course I spent that time working on my car. Did a half ass detail job on it, dressed up the engine, and mounted my AP. Took some pictures of it this morning, and after driving it for 5 minutes of course it looks like crap again. I hate winter.

Looking sexay!! My car desparately needs to be cleaned sometime soon! With all the snow and bitter cold that we've had its just been hard.

Thanks for the comments guys!! I'm pleased with how she looks, only thing is I keep getting chips in my emblems. I think the salt is effing up the paint I just put on them. You'd think that 4 coats of clear coat would be enough....

I don't have the sensors in these tires, they're strictly for the winter, wasn't going to pay the money to get them put in, so I deal with the tire pressure light, I've gotten used to it.

Just out of curiosity...what have you mounted to hold the Cobb AP? I've been trying to figure out a way to do something similar.

I used a universal cell phone mount from verizon. It's only like 20 bucks. Follow the instructions for taking apart the driver side dash ie the "vent pod gauge install" thread, and you can run the AP wire through the small gap between the steering column and the dash. It hides the wire nicely.

I have a simular cell phone vent holder for my AP, got it off ebay for $8 shipped. It looks like the same one but I'm not sure. I like having it mounted there and when not using the AP, I put my phone there.

Looks very nice!

How did you get your engine bay so clean? Please reveal your secrets. My car will be forever grateful. She is a dirty pig...

HATE WINTER!

Pretty simple. I take off the entire Intercooler and place it in my driveway next to the car. put plastic sandwich bags around the boost tubes to ensure no moisture gets in them, and do the same thing if you have an aftermarket intake. I spray the whole engine down with an engine degreaser that you can get from autozone or sears. Be careful when spraying near ECU and Air Intake. Also spray the Intercooler with the degreaser, alot of hidden dirt gets stuck in those fins. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Directions won't say to, but I use a wire brush or wheel brush and scrub the places that look really dirty. Once I'm satisfied I hose her down. When spraying down the top of the engine(where the spark plugs are) Be very careful not to let too much water collect there, have plenty of rags to soak up the water because it could seep into your engine and cause some problems. Let both the engine and IC dry and put everything back together. Then spray your entire engine bay with some sort of Engine Bay Dress Up, I get mine at Autozone, it's a black can, can't remember the company, but it works wonders and even smells good. Don't spray too much, but do 2 light coats. Everything will look very wet, but don't wipe it yet. Let the car idle for 10 minutes to help with drying. Do some touch ups with a terry cloth to the areas that didn't dry completely. Wow, what a long post for something so simple, but I like to be thorough.

hey just curious do you have your boost gauge set to amber all the time? is it visible during the day?

I do, but I have to flick my headlights on at start up for it to light up. I've been thinking about connecting the other wire to a fuse so that it can be white during the day if I wanted but have been too lazy.
