so yesterday I received a new set of wheels and tires i'd bought from an ebay vendor.

they were supposed to be a set of 4 bronze work emotion cr-kai's

however what i received was this:

2 gunmetal wheels and 2 bronze wheels.

i'm pretty disappointed and kinda lost on what to do now. i filed a claim with paypal and ebay but the buyer is being uncooperative and refused to give a refund, and it seems like he is going to wait till the last step of each stage of the dispute/claim process so this is going to take forever.

I did some calling around and i found a vendor that has the same bronze wheels in stock so i was thinking about offering to send him back just the 2 gunmetal rims for a partial refund and keeping everything else, except that now i'm worried that the two new bronze rims wouldn't match the color of the two that i have now and i'd be stuck back in this position. Does anyone know how well two newly manufactured wheels would color match two wheels that were made back in '06? Is it one of those things where each time the color is a bit different>?

SO what's everyones thoughts, do i wait out the claim process which could take months and hope that paypal refunds all of my money? Or do I try and get a partial refund from the guy (assuming he'd even be open to it) and hope that the two new rims i buy color match?

If the color is different, I would think after about 6 months the colors will match.

put the bronze on the left side of the car and the gunmetal on the right. no one sees both sides at the same time. i see show cars like this alot. or powdercoat them

i thought about that, im not really looking for ideas on how to make these work though, i don't want some ridiculous looking car that makes people scratch their heads and laugh at it. were you serious btw about seeing show cars like that? lol. i think worst case scenario if i got screwed by paypal and cant get any kind of a refund i'd probably try selling the two gunmetal rims by themselves and buying two new bronze wheels.

so does anyone know how well two brand new wheels would match two wheels made in '06?

Different colors, aww that sucks. How much did you end up paying?

i paid 1000 which seemed like an alright deal, 4 brand new bridgestone fuzions 235/40/18's and the kais which run $350~/ea. new and are usually take awhile to get ahold of.

Yes, don't put two different colors of wheels on, it will look plain silly.
Show cars do this because that's what they are, for show. They want to show what the car will look like with different sets of wheels, so you get two perspectives. I wouldn't drive around like that though. =)

I'm not sure if a vendor would trade you for two rims that have been curbed. Best bet may be to sell two rims and buy two rims.

I can see why you're worried about color matching the new rims with the existing rims but I wouldn't worry too much. The rims, even if they are slightly off shade, won't be noticeable one on the car. It's not like paint on the car where the two shades will be side by side.

That guy really screwed you. =(

I'd say put the gunmetal one's on the drivers side and the bronze on the passenger. You can only see one side at a time.

Seriously though, that sucks man, hope it all works out.

Not only they are different colors..they are curbed like crazy! Ide find that ****** and shoot his ass!

yah, all but one of the wheels has curb damage (thankfully its a bronze one) and he only showed that one wheel was damaged on the auction. even if i do manage to get a refund im gonna be shafted for like $150~ in shipping costs to send everything back.

the crazy thing is he's an ebay vendor with over 600 feedback.

yah true, that makes me feel a little bit better at least....i think i'm gonna probably gonna end up being stuck buying two new rims, i guess it depends on paypal...i don't see how they won't decide in my favor, but i'm worried nonetheless and it's such a long process which is really frustrating.

and he ****** me over for sure, i had a friend take a look at them and he thinks the two gunmetal ones may actually be powder coated...which if that's true i would never even be able to sell them because nothing would match.

Seriously though, that sucks man, hope it all works out.

thanks...i'll keep it updated and hopefully at some point be able to post some pics of my car with a full set of wheels on it.

if you end up keeping them, (both colors look bitchen) i vote to put two on one side. i betcha not one person even notices. we think everyone checks our rides as close as we do. not so. i remember once i got new wheels and nobody even noticed. made me sad. i didnt get out of my car for a week. just stared at the bill for the wheels and cryed!!!

Man that's crappy.

I guess you have two options for selling them if they truely are powder coated.

Sell them as stock gunmetal rims and pretend you didn't know. But that's shady and you'd be stooping to the guy who screwed you's level.
Sell them knowing they're powdercoated and try to let them go for less.

How about powder coat the gunmetal back to bronze? That would give you the chance to fix some of the curb rash.

if i did decide to go the powdercoating/rim repair route where would i go to get work like that done? anyone know a good place in the daytona beach, fl area?

I searched around for cost, it looks like $50-80 per wheel. Not that cheap but worth it if it will make you happy.

It may cost a bit more if they have to blast off the current finish from your rims. Hopefully someone local to you can recommend a shop.

Iwas going to offer to buy two from you till the rashed, curbed issue came up. I really like works wheels. I think you should shoot him also
