First of i would like to say hello to everyone.

Sorry if this is something everyones already talked about but im just learning these things. my catalytic broke on my msp so wen i was getting it fixed i decided to go with the high flow cat by magnaflow 2.5" and the rest of the pipe going to the the muffler all 2.5" was that a good choice. and is that concidered a full exhaust or is there more. whats the turbo back and the s pipe j pipe downpipe stuff.. sorry for sounding so stupid but i dont know anything about this stuff.

If anyone can help me i would realy appreciate it thanks.

S-pipe is a little S shaped piece of piping that is bolted directly to the turbo(most restrictive part of our exhausts). The J pipe comes after that. If you get under your car, you can see each section. Next is the midpipe which includes both of your cats. That is bolted to the "cat back" section, which contains a resonator, followed by the muffler.
Did you have both cats removed and replaced with a single highflow cat? If so, you might see a slight gain in power, but doubtful. Replacing the S and J pipes will give you a noticeable gain in power for sure. Search the Mazdaspeed (MSP) section, and you will find tons of info and descriptions about mods that you can do to improve all sorts of things on your car.
And don't worry about feeling stupid, we were all a newbie at one time:) Welcome to the forums. You've got a lot of local people in the LA area that will always be around for help as well. Check the local forums for more info.

Thanks for the quick reply. i replaced both cats with the one high flow to the cat back and i removed the resinator. i do feel a difference in the drive when i used to go from first to second and punch it it would be like theres no power to the car. now its just smooth and it feels quicker i dunno if its my imagination or excitment lol.. but thanks man. so the s pipe would be were i would get the most gains it seems true ?

It's a lot to read, but this will give you a lot of info regarding the S-pipe and J pipe sections.

It's a little pricey and may require some custom piping, so another alternative is to buy just the J-pipe section and leave the S-pipe section stock. If you want the absolute most out of your car though, you'll have tyo do the S-pipe as well.

thanks. i really do want to most out of my car cus my friends have gsr integras dodge neon srt-4 and the evo. i wanna try to keep up wit dem some time. itll be hard with the evo but i can dream. lol

yea da gsr is not to bad we ran our cars stock and it was even. he did his piping and chip and he flew by but without da chip and my almost all exhaust done im up there again. but i really wanna be there wit tha other turboed cars.

I was actually testing out GSR's the day I test drove the MSP. Needles to say, once I hit second gear in the MSP and the boost kicked in, I was sold:)
To feel remotely compareable, the GSR would have needed a short shifter, and an aftermarket clutch...Just remember that the Evo and SRT are on another playing field than us. You might be able to "keep up", but it's gonna cost some money to beat them. Not impossible though.

SRT's aren't that much ahead of us. Yes stock for stock the SRT has an advantage, but we can take them in the turns and with a bit of work it can be a very even race. NOT on different playing field, but we are a bit behind the SRT. Notice I said nothing of the Evo. Evo's = Lots of work to keep up with.

the video is on a tape, i dont how 2 put it on here if some one tells me how i will put it on, all the races we did was off a 2nd gear roll

any car can be fast, the msp is a great platform to start with, for 5K you can be faster than an evo...neons are ugly anyway

I can beat an SRT 4 pretty easily as well, but I'm not sure you can beat evos unless you are the the HiBoost project car.
