New to Northwest and MPg sucks

I just moved here a few months ago from the midwest and my mpg has gone way down. I am averaging 21-22 mpg and I drive conservatively. Is this normal that the air here makes cars get bad mileage or am I an acception to the norm? What mileage are you getting right now?

Not the air -it's the gas especially now in the winter months. Has like 8-10 % ethenol which really drops the MPG

I've been consistently getting around 22-24mpg for the last months...What was your MPG in the midwest???? Have to take into account....There are no hills in the Midwest..Mostly just flat and corn.....Where did you move from???? I'm an Illinois boy....Land of Lincoln...

I get 27-31 in my MSP. 250hp.

Tuned = ownage of the MPG.

okay i thought i was going crazy but i guess i'm not cuz i'm getting around 22 - 24 also

IF anything sealevel air is better for your car. terrin, traffic, etc could throw a bit off, and if your mileage is that poor, I'd recommend dropping in some new plugs an resetting your ecu anyway. VERY minimal amount of effort for possibly huge gains.

Just curious, how do I reset the ECU? Will that help at all? Back home I drove all city miles, here it is almost all freeway. Will reseting the ECU change the way the engine manages the fuel for different driving styles and habits?

basically resetting the ecu requires disconnecting your battery, and hitting your brake pedal a couple of times to drain any remaining juice outta the system. leave it like that for a couplefew seconds atleast. It's nothing too majorly involved, but it will put your ecu into "learn" mode again. I'd really recommend doing plugs as well if you haven't done them in awhile. I remember itmade a big diff with me even when I was at like 30K. SPeaking of which I'm likely due.

it's not a matter of plugs being good or bad, it's a matter of them being a wear item. THink of how many little sparks dance across those electrodes over the course of "only" 37000 miles. YES they make plugs with 100K claims and there's no reason they won't work thatlong, BUT>>> will they be in optimal shape? think about it, nomatter what kinda iridium, or platinum or whaever they coat the thigns with. sparks arcing across metal is how you weld things, and also a very effective way of cutting metal. And that isn't even getting into the heat stresses the things are put under...

Basically, in The end, a set of spark plugs is CHEAP!!! gonna cost you MAYBE $20-30. and chances are you can get the parts store to gap them for you... I PROMISE you it's not much of a hassle to change plugs.

However when you get them, don't get lured into the performance plug game. factory NGK's are where it's at. no sense wasting extra money on marketing gimmicks.

I'm not saying it's going to without a doubt give you 5mpg. but It cannot possibly hurt, it can only help. You'll look at the old ones and be relieved you replaced them.
IF you're looking at eliminating possible economy-robbers, this is towards the top of the list.

in the summer in my old auto p5 while doing 80 on the interstate i got around 30. NEVER low 20's no matter the season. always mid to upper and I drove it hard as hell all the time.

in my legacy the very best I have gotten is 21.8. worst is around 12 or so. so quit complaining.

Yeah, prolly til april. I've noticed it runs longer here. Does the chevron still sell 95 octane?

Nope, best I've found around here was 93, most only sell 92 octane. =(
