New to m247 and new to the Mazdaspeed3

What year is yours? Mine doesn't have it. The dial adjusts the sensitivity of the rain sensor.

Yeah Skyline Drive is a drag because it's such a cool curvy mountaintop road, but the damn 35 MPH speed limit takes all the fun out of it. They need to have a rally race up there.

mine has it...and im talking about the front, i have a gt with auto rain wipers too

Not really intermittent wipers, that would be to set the min-max sensitivity on the rain sensor not intermittent as it relies on the rate of rain fall on the sensor not a fixed frequency

Much to my chagrin, it was actually more of a PITA than I expected since there is not a preexisting wiring harness for it like on most cars where it is optional. You have to splice into a circuit down in the driver side kickpanel and then run the wire behind the trim all the way up the side and across the top to the middle but that is relatively straighforward. The annoying part is getting the plastic surrounding off the rain sensor to remove the standard mirror. I had to make a "tool" to do it and essentially broke the old plastic piece off, which was okay because the mirror install kit comes with a new piece to fit around it. After that it was just plug and play.

The kit does come with detailed directions, at least.

how much was the mirror "kit" ??

Well the mirror was separate from the install kit. I got it from the dealer with my car (but not installed) at invoice price, as listed on edmunds.com which makes for a price of $160. To buy it as an accessory though the "Mirror Base" sells for $160 and the installation kit sells for $40 if you have rain-sensing wipers nad $25 without rain-sensing wipers (basically, GT vs Sport).

Also, this was the normal auto dimming/compass mirror, not the homelink version, which is $90 more.
