Well after 2 days..worth of work..i finally finished installing my new t3 tubo on Friday. My last turbo was an ihi turbo...I was pushing about 12psi...

The install was very long...I ran into a couple of problems...The downpipe that was supplied w/ the turbo was made for a saab..so i had to pull off the downpipe of an old t3 turbo...than I had to make more custom pipes...main the intake and the pipe after the turbo itself...due to the size of the t3 turbo. And The wastgate that was supplied w/ the turbo didn't fit. So again i had to strip an old t3 turbo of it's wastegate...It fit..but unfortunately..it's not holding boost properly...

When the car fully warmed up..i took her out for a spin...i hit boost and only saw 2.5 psi...Well..on the way back to the shop...i hit boost again..and all the sudden the car ran oober rich..and i wasn't hitting any boost...well turned out..the E-clip came off...and the wastgate wasn't connected to the downpipe anymore..well had to call shops all aruond..till i found one...And due to the fact the turbo & such was already installed..it was a b**** to get to...had to jack up car..move/clamp hoses and such..well i kept dropping the F*ken E-Clip..and since i was outside..i lost it like 5 times..i had extra's..but only 1 that was the right size...Well finally got her on & was time to go home..

My trip home..was interesting..i noticed taht after driving car for 14min..the car started hitting boost at like 5psi..instead of 2.5psi and after 20min..8psi...i was very happy...car pulled much harder...

Can't wait till turbo breaks in to let her loose.

Here's a pic of the Air Research T3 Turbo:

is this a joke?? I'd rather read those Terri Schiavo threads.

post your dyno's chas I can't wait for you to run 12psi on that "kit".

what did you do, delete the old thread and copy and paste everything to this thread?

damn why does everybody talk s*** when acidbbg starts a thread? did i miss somthing on this good old forum??
rob

Yes..hoping..that those idiots..would stay on that thread..and let me post in peace..i mean really...dyno will be up soon..but that's no the idea of this thread...

The idea of this thread..is solutions for my wastegate problems & such..ideas on what wastegates..can be used..to effectively fix the boost issue...there's no chance of me dynoing at 3psi! Also..could a boost controller effectively resolve this issue?

Laslty...what can be done..to effectively get me over the 230whp mark..at 10psi..

NOT WHAT I COULD DO TO MAKE MY CAR TO MAKE THESE BOARD MEMEBERS HAPPY!

ENOUGH SAID..if you wanna post bull..go to the other thread..if you wanna help..please feel free to give your opinoin!

Chas, this is not to be offensive, but I have a very serious inquiry. What are your thoughts on your motor? I mean you don't honestly think you can push 12+ psi daily and get away with it forever. Especially the way you talk about racing other cars on the street. It's a mathmatical certainty.

that is actually what i've been thinking. especially since he had Nitrous on it for a while, im sure that didnt help any.

why can't you dyno at 3psi?? I dynoed at a hair over 4 and got good numbers.

you wanna know the best way to fix your problems....buy a decent kit to start with. The reason companies charge so much for their FI kits is because they've worked out all the problems you're running into. If you used a little common sense when it came to this you'd have figured out by now that trying to piece together all of these little componants is going to leave you with a LOT of fitment issues. No'one here on this forum is going to know how to help you because no'one here has that set-up.

my best advice....run it as-is until you can afford a pre-built kit from someone who designed everything from start to finish. You won't have to worry about things like this.

My motor is in very good shape..i recently did a compression and leak down test..and my numbers were all in the safety range...

I am not planning on pushing 12psi daily...i plan on running 8-psi daily...10 psi..will be for racining..and 12psi..will only be w/ racefuel..and that will probly...only happen for dyno event...

I can't afford to run race fuel every day..it costs close to 3.00 per gallon...and it's hard to find around my area..the only place that sells it is Englishtown raceway.

because..3psi...is very low..and i am sure my numbers won't even be over 150whp...

I realize that these fitment issues are bound to happen...but this wastegate issue..is really a pita...

I believe a couple people are runnig t3 turbo's..not to mention using same manifold as i am..

Prebuilt kit..is not a good idea...only becuase this wastegate issue..will be fixed by next week..i talked to my mechanic..and he wants to take it off..and weld a longer rod onto it...he thinks that will effectively fix my problem.

I didn't read any of the threads nor do I care too...

All I'm gonna say is ...Superchargers could never be built so a cheap turbo kit could never be built either...

that should shut all you fuckers up
:)

p.s. I actually like Matty unlike some people here (won't name names) so this is kinda a joked toward him but he's still being an ass..but he's good at that

I been doing 12 - 13 and some spikes of 14psi DAILY! ;)

Hey chas....

I dont know about IHI turbochargers, but tell me, whats the difference now? Is the new turbocharger bigger than your previous IHI?

And by the way, just to let some people here know, I also did one protege turbo, with some misc parts, small turbo, wrx top mount intercooler made front mount, no kit at all and its running fine. It is an automatic trans protege, dynoed 153whp with no tunning at all and 7psi, looking for 170whp soon @ 8-9psi on a very conservative tunning.

Some people think that just because some proteges are blowing motors @ 7psi its unreliable to run more than that. HELLOOOOOOOO its not the amount of boost, ITS WHP and Torque numbers! Ive seen 267whp stock bottom hold good up to 7500rpms @ 15psi

And what motor are you on now? ;)

My 2nd motor...I blew the 1st one and IT WASNT BOOST what destroyed it...I was running 11psi on a wrong wired MPI tunner.

I been doing 13psi for long, sometimes it stays @ 12psi and when the engine is cold it peaks and stays in 14psi.

DAILY

Thats what it takes when learning. ;)

Ah and just in case, when this 2nd motor was put it, the MPI was still bad, I heard this motor ping and knock before, and still in one piece!

IHI turbo i much smaller than the t3 turbo..if you wanna compare the sizes..it's like t25 than ihi than t3 than t3/t4 turbo..

I think the main reasons why people blow their engine are:
Lack of EMS (check out the msp section for more details)
Lack of FMIC (once again check out msp section)
Bad driver who revvs the s*** out of her...and does high speed runs allot.
