;Sway bar is adjustable
.
RB one: got it, I love it !!!What sways are you guys using/thinking about using? I'm just going to run HS (see other thread), and with the allowance of either changing either the front OR rear sway, I'm thinking about grabbing the RB rear.
So is Mr Hollis going to give us some info on the set up of the car running at the Texas Tour?
Thanks
Andres
Roadtrip Andres! When are we leaving? Oh wait, I have a baby due any day now... FM(Racing)L!
Sure, but there's not much to say.
My white car is still bone stock, so we borrowed the track rat (teen driving school car) from our local road course, Harris Hill Road. This one is a blue 2011 with H&R lowering springs and a Racing Reat rear bar. We mounted my 15x7.5" SSRs with R1R's that I have leftover from the Civic. That's it. Pulled the spare/jack/mats and ran it on flashing "E".
Car is a slug without drivetrain mods. Seriously slow acceleration. The pedal on the right should not be referred to as an "accelerator" as it fails in that regard. I see it as a "stop slowing down" pedal. Floor it to hold speed, release to slow down.
And it really needs shocks, which we are still waiting on. So....today I pulled the trigger on a set of K-Sports that the previous owner of the blue track rat still had (they were advertised on this forum 6 months ago) and were on CL and eBay for a pretty reasonable price. That should get me by for awhile. The springs are 60mm so I can use some 2.5" ones I have laying around to up the spring rates beyond what the kit comes with. PO slotted the strut mounts for camber, too.
Edit: Funny...the blue 2 from the track is the car in the photo on the first page of your build thread, Andres. And the coilovers I just bought are those that were on that car. You say that K-Sport is going to work with you on updates...tell me more.
How was the damping with the H&R springs on stock shocks? Ridiculous pogo-sticking or not that bad?
For someone who will autoX occasionally (but unlikely at your level), and daily drive the 2 would the H&R springs be a reasonable option? Or should I definitely just skip it and save for coilovers?
Any reason you guys are choosing K-Sports versus the Bilsteins?
Finally got started working on my car. K-Sports are in and the PO slotted them to give some camber adjustment. Still not enough, but it's a step in the right direction. Also swapped out the battery for a 2 lb lithium piece. Going to work on the seats next. I'll use my Kirkey that I always use for the driver and I have a 99 Miata sport seat for the passenger side. I'll fab some non-adjustable mounts for that so it will come in right around 25 lbs.

Just added some stuff on Mazda 2 STF race weights, including final targets. Read the Notes on the page in the link.
Andy,
Did you guys pull the suspenders and do some suspension geometry measuring? Just curious re. How camber curves look and how much change in bump-steer at various settings.
