I just got my car and looked into the same thing before i bought. Yes you can. There is a dash kit you can buy that will allow you to fit your own radio in. There is also a coversion kit you can add that will allow you to use the controls on the steering wheel as well for your own radio. You can also buy the iPoD connection seperate or installed from mazda.

Everything has a price... but it IS possible.

Note: I had read here that you couldnt play MP3 cd's on the 6's stock stereo. This is FALSE. You can, as long as you burn it a certain way. This means burning it as MP3's or wav's/mpeg's... and i believe not as DATA. I tested a ton of CD's on my system and it seems all my cd's that werent burnt as data worked perfectly.

The stock system ( bose or not ) is actually really good. The touring edition comes with 2 tweeters and 4 speakers so naturally the sound is pretty nice. Ill be installing a set of 2 10' inch subs in the back trunck with a amp when weather permits.

If your only installing your own system to play mp3's.. dont bother. Just burn the cd's properly OR get an iPoD. Youll save tons of cash and all the functions on your steering wheel will still work.

Enjoy.. hope this helps...

Where are you located Rush?

The Mazda6, all US versions as far as my research tells me, does NOT come with MP3 playback unless you pay $500 for an upgraded head unit or install one of the AUX input adapters. You'll know if your car can play MP3s if it has an "MP3" badge on the face of the head unit.

For the Mazda6 (and not the Mazdaspeed6) there is a dash kit available so you can install an aftermarket radio and still retain all your climate control features, and heads-up display clock.

Im from montreal ( quebec ) in canada. Not sure if my car would be any diffrent then the ones sold in the U.S. I thought that only exhaust etc would be diffrent.

Just to repoint out.. i DONT have the bose system... so that might be diffrent as well.
