New Speed3!

After about 2 years of debating I finally sold my '99 9-3 Viggen and picked up a BM '09 GT this afternoon, and couldn't be happier! It was tough saying goodbye to the Viggen, but I found a good replacement. Just wanted to say hello to everyone, I'm a long time lurker, but hopefully will now be posting a lot more now that I have something to talk about (drinks)

Welcome and congrats on the purchase. just curious if you bailed on the Saab due to there economic/financial situation? I work in the auto industry and i have seen a fair amount of my customers doing similar...

The reason I bailed on the Viggen was because it had 135k on it and I just wanted something new. I loved the car but it was a little difficult for a daily driver in New England because of how low it was. No matter how careful you were the front is always getting scraped. Also the price of repairs were outrageuous. The Viggen has 230 hp/ 258 tq but I believe is a little bit lighter than the MS3, so power wise they are pretty similar, but I would definitely give the edge to the speed3. Handling wise the two do not compare, the MS3is leaps in bounds ahead of it. The only thing I feel like I will be missing is the rarity of the car. In the 4 year history of me owning it I literally only saw 2 others on the road. Either way, I'm glad to be a MS3 owner! Here are a few pics of the Vig, I'll post up some of the MS3 but its stock so it's nothing you haven't seen.

I don't often say this, but, hey- nice looking Saab! I had a hard time parting with my (2nd) MINI, but like you it was just time for something new. And the MS3 was the best combination of styling, power, handling and price on the market. As far as bang for your buck, I don't know if there's another car out there that can compare. So congrats! If you appreciate cars, as it appears you do, this thing'll get under your skin.

Congrats on the purchase! I was always a fan of the older quirky Saabs but could never justify the higher maintenance costs. You will be surprised how few Speed3's are out there, I've only seen two so far in the S.Shore area over the past few months.

I can not pass up this oportunity...

What do you call it when two Yuppies get into a car accident?

A Saab story...

Sorry, bad humor.

haha easy on the Saab jokes. Yea I had an old 900, and after I sold it and bought a Japanese car (Integra GSR) I swore I never would but a Saab again just because they are always breaking. However, after I drove the Viggen, I don't know how I could ever go back to an unboosted car. I think I made the right decision!
