hankook has been around forever, and the reviews are really good on this particular tire. plus, i like the style of it too... it's only H rated, but thats up to 130mph, which i dont drive on a daily basis :) i also like the falken ziex ze512's-

they are W rated, but i dont know... its between the 2 though... any thoughts?

ok, i think that might be what i go with than. like i said, i have no clue what tire size to go with, and ya'll have 215's, so i think i'll run with those:) the rims are in, so i'm gonna go look at em today. i just need to get the tires now... lol

Don't forget to post some pics of the ride.

Kumho Ecsta SPT in 215/40R17 is what you're looking for. A good performing tire with great treadware (300 I believe). They're also quite cheap (can be had for $80/tire). The only complaints I have heard are that the sidewall can "feel soft" under hard cornering and the performance in heavy rain/snow is not existent (it is a UHP tire though).

what about the dunlop direzza dz101's? has good reviews, and looks pretty good...

Many duflops suck but those are awsome. I rock em. Strong sidewall for throwing the car into the turns, and great grip! And the tire rubber near the bead sticks out slightly so it kinda protects from curb rash. Price is good to.
here's an article:

The Direzza DZ101 (di-rez'-za) is Dunlop's Ultra High Performance Summer tire for the drivers of sport compact cars. The Direzza shares its name with Dunlop's Japan GT Championship (JGTC) racing tires, and was developed to provide crisp and responsive handling in both wet and dry conditions, however it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing conditions, through snow or on ice.

On the outside, the Direzza DZ101 features Dunlop's specially formulated Silicarbon Matrix tread compound (combines silica and carbon black) to enhance grip in the wet without surrendering traction in the dry. The compound is molded into a directional tread design featuring rigid shoulder blocks and two wide, straight tread channels with long, oblique grooves to combine responsive handling, stable cornering and hydroplaning resistance.

Internally, the Direzza DZ101 features twin steel belts reinforced by Dunlop's Jointless Band (JLB) spiral-wound cap ply to stabilize the tread area enhancing handling and high-speed capability. A polyester cord body enhances ride quality while Max Flange Shields help resist rim damage due to accidental curbing.

^^^ hmm, i think those are the ones i'm gonna go with. do you have them in 215-40-17? if so, do you have pics of them on your car???

really? thats too bad... good lookin' tires too... pretty good reviews. yeah, i think i'm going to go with the hankook. how fast did the falkens wear out?

id say within 1 year. i didnt drive hard or nothing. it was on a lowered mini truck but the camber was normal.

I'll second the recommendation for the Nitto Neogens. I got 50k miles out of my last set (Nitto says 20k) and they handled great in dry or wet weather, wore evenly and they gripped better than my Toyos in my opinion. I just ordered a set of 215/45s for my MSP wheels.

get some Potenza RE750 or Fuzion ZRI 215/40/17 from Firestone and get the road hazard warranty=)
