doesnt mean i want to eliminate the possibilty, nor do i want to keep 2 systems around... I'd just spend the extra $100 and get the 80 gig
Backward compatibility isn't that big of a deal because most PS3 buyers already own a PS2, and trust me, once you've played some XBox360 or PS3 games in high def going back to low-def PS2 games is TOUGH (rare exceptions being something like God of War 2).
Yup, I agree. Generally I agree that it was a dumb decision for Sony to pull the BC from the 40 gig - they even admitted it didn't save them much money at all to do so. They felt PS2 game sales were taking away from PS3 sales but I don't really agree with that myself. That's true for the most part. I went HD last weekend and it completely blew my mind. But, as you also pointed out, there are lots of must-haves on the PS2 that are dirt cheap now. HD is awesome, but you need Bully and the GTA games and the God of Wars and Metal Gear Solid games in your collection...
I thought all ps3's were reverse compatible. That's bulls*** if they aren't. Sony dropped the ball if that is indeed the case.
I gave the ps2 to my little sister because she wanted guitar hero. She earned it by taking care of the lil pug, so I gave it to her but I assumed the ps3 was reverse compatible. Again stupid of sony. And really 2 systems take up space. Why have them both on your tv stand? I guess I will have to shell out another 100 as well. I will wait until they have games worth playing.
i am pretty disappointed with my ps3 honestly. i love call of duty 3 and will be getting call of duty 4 for sure. i own the system pretty much to play mgs4 and gran turismo. i bought madden 08 and was shocked. it only plays in 720 and runs less than 30 frames a second. if i wanted a game of madden that looked that bad i'd pick it up for DS. the 360 version looks a million times better in 1080 and doesn't have the lag or clipping. i hate how the controller charges, how short the damn cables are, how updates take forever to download and install and how it seems like every time i buy a game i have to go through a bloody process of download, install and reboot just to play it. its as bad as installing XP software onto a system with Vista.
GTA 4 is going to be sweet.
No doubt it has some issues but so far it has lived up to my expectations if not exceeded them. I know when I got my PS2 at launch it took at least a year until I actually owned a game that i thought made the system worth owning but the PS3 is worth owning just for the blu-ray playback alone IMO.
As for the system updates, if you get a newer game you shouldn't need to download an update - new games include the latest firmware right on the disc. In fact 1.94 currently can't even be downloaded - it's only available on newer games like Rachet and Clank. Regarding the controller charging, I just charge mine via my computer that's sitting right next to me. I either recommend that or buy any standard USB extension cable to make the cord as long as you want.
hell yes it is, but i will still buy it for 360 if it does not play/look better than its Ps3 counterpart. I think it will look better on Ps3 though, especially seeing as its been delayed for extra dev timei would not be surprised to see sony fork out for an exclusive and they would be wise to.
i'm of the mindset that HD DVD is going to eventually surpass Blu Ray, but yeah like i said i do love the Blu Ray playback. Its very nice.
You only have 1 controller? I usually just swap mine out. I'll charge my other controllers while playing with another.Captain KRM P5 said:Yeah, I could buy longer cables. Yeah, I could take them up to my PC. But out of the box for the price I paid I should not have to do that. Call me a snob, whatever. Its built with HD in mind, so why include a cable that requires you to sit about 3 to 4 feet away from one when an ideal sitting position from larger HD tv is twice that?

Agreed. I don't know if I've ever sat and played with a charging controller.Only way it can surpass blue-ray is in sales (and I don't see that happening), technology wise blue-ray is far superior.
