New Owner

Well, we finally bought our Mazda 5. A 2007 GT, manual trans, with leather. Got the dealer to throw in an Ipod connector, and a block heater.

I've only put 120 kms or so on it so far, but so far I love it! Our 4 month old must love it to, because when we took her for a ride last night, she fell right asleep! It handles so much better and tighter than the Acura 1.7 EL we had. And I don't know about the auto trans, but the manual has plenty of power for me.

As for the Ipod connector, it was the first one that the dealer had installed, and it took them about an hour and a half to hook it up. The salesman said that had they known how long it would take, they don't know if they would have thrown it in! Oh well... I can't tell you how well it works yet, because I don't even have an Ipod yet... I'm a little behind the times. Either I'll buy one soon, or Santa will bring me one for Christmas. I'll probably be the one buying it...

And no, I don't have a picture yet - now that it gets dark at 5pm, it's been hard to find a good time to take a picture. Probably this weekend.

Not duh a 5 is gonna be slower than you. Think about it, you have a lighter car, your lower to the ground less lift. and there might be alot more factors don't know...

How much d.c did u get off MSRP?

I traded in our previous car, so all I was interested in was who would give me the best $ for my trade - after checking with 4 dealers, this one was best by about $1200.

Welcome to the fam travd! hehe, Acura 1.7EL, ie a rebadged Civic. Not a bad car, but not at all surprised you enjoy driving your 5 more. I test drove a new Civic a few months before I decided on a 5, and good lord is that a soulless car, no fun whatsoever. This car is just so lively and as much as I try to baby it to sip gas, it's just so rev-happy. But I digress a little... enjoy your car and congrats (first)

To be fair, I loved the engine in the EL... it loved reving, and sounded fantastic when you brought it up there. And the manual transimission is one of the best I've ever driven. Only time will tell if I end up liking the engine and transmission in the 5 as much.

My main problem with the EL (other than the lack of space for babies and dogs) was with the suspension. I don't know how to describe it, a little loose, not precise... I don't know, but it was just not right for me. My previous cars had all been Hondas and I'd been happy with them, but this EL made me want to look elsewhere.

The person was very persistant...

Probably was trying to figure out why a 2.0 L Protege was pulling like a 5.0 Mustang on him..
