2016 Mazda Cx-5 Touring
I've been a lurker on these forums for a couple of months now, but I finally pulled the trigger on a 2016.5 Cx-5 touring yesterday (lease). I haven't driven it a ton yet, but I'm loving it so far. I was hoping some of you guys could help me with a couple of questions so I don't have to go back to the dealer to figure things out. Thanks!

1) In my excitement I forgot to ask the dealer, but do we only get one key fob or did you guys get spare ones with yours? If not, how much can I expect to pay for a second one?

2) I was trying to play music through my galaxy note 5 via usb, but the usb sources are always greyed out. Is it not compatible with my phone or am I missing something?

Yes, you should have 2 fobs!

Try Bluetooth instead of USB, see if that works for you? I believe in order to use the Galaxy5 thru USB, you have to put phone into USB mode? (huh)

  1. A new CX-5 definitely comes with two key fobs. If you're missing one, make sure to get the second one from your dealer. Key fob is expensive and requires programming into your car computer by Mazda dealer if the key fob is not the original two.
  2. USB port should work once you select the audio source from USB. Or you can try Bluetooth connection to your phone.

Ok thanks I'll have to go back to get the second fob. When I go to audio source with my phone plugged in via usb, it doesn't let me select USB 1 or 2.

Bluetooth works. How do I put it into usb mode?

this is what I got when I googled "GALAXY S5 USB MODE"

Samsung Galaxy S5™

1.Plug the USB cable into the phone.
2.Touch and drag the notification bar down.
3.Touch Connected as a media device.
4.Touch the desired option (e.g., Camera (PTP)).
5.The USB connection option has been changed

I think you may want to tap MTP/File transfer.
Let me know if it works. It does not work for me: it identifies the phone but shows a never ending "loading" and I barely have any music there.
It will work for any "Mass storage device" USB, but Android does not support these for a long time now (for good reasons). I have a small USB drive plugged there permanently.

Yeah same thing is happening to me. Looks like I'll stick with Bluetooth for now.
