2016 CX-5 GT AWD w/Tech
Hi everyone! I just purchased a 2016 CX-5 GT yesterday evening. I am coming from a 2004 RX-8, so it's going to take me a quite a while to get used to something so much newer and bigger. That being said, I am excited to learn all I can about all of the tech and other stuff I can do to personalize it. The first step is taking it to get the windows tinted this afternoon. I think it'll look great with the darker tint on white body paint!

Guess, I will be the 1st to welcome you

Guess, I will be the 1st to welcome you....I am very new here as well! I also purchased my CX-5 yesterday! Mine is a 2015 GT and like you, must re-learn my own driving skills to go along with all the new tech! Had it out today and it really is a fun ride
Good luck with the Tinting.

Hey that's cool we both purchased the same day! The tinting went good. Had planned on doing all 4 windows and the back for $200, but since the back already come factory at around 25%, I went ahead and just did the front. Got them at 35% (although I wanted 25% like the back) since that is the legal limit. Got it for $55, so not bad. Looks really good with black wheels and white paint.

How are you coming along with all the new tech? I spent a couple of hours going over some stuff this evening. Still lots to read though!

Soooo why didn't you get them at 25%. I got 35% too. I would have preferred 25% as well but any tint on the front is illegal here and I even got popped day after I had them tinted. Got them stripped and re-tinted at 35% again. Hoping front being lighter than the back buys me some slack but given the choice, I'd prefer them to match.

Yeah, me too

Yep, there is an awful lot to learn. I find the radio to be a bit perplexing at the moment. I spent about 2 hrs with it yesterday. Overall I am quite pleased!

What do you think about the 2016 LED lighting. That was a reason that I was after the 2015 w/HID lighting. My understanding was that LEDs throw a bunch of heat and require special cooling to prevent damage? My ex-OB had the electric parking brake which I really did not care for. The 2015 CX-5 has the old fashioned hand brake which I prefer.

The limit in MO is 35%. Can't go below that. I wanted to get 20% and they were willing to do it. I was about to do it, but after talking to one of the guys there he told me he's been pulled over 2 times and hit with 2 $100 tickets. I don't want to be worrying about being pulled over at any given time, so I went with 35%. That's a drag you actually got a ticket for it. I hope 35% doesn't bring you any issues.

That's funny because I, too, spent quite some time in my driveway last evening trying to get my stations programmed and setting locked down. Took about 45 min., but I got it done. One thing down, 48239 more to go!

I hadn't heard about the LED issue. I hope that's not something that's going to be a problem down the road.

I was used to the regular hand brake on my RX-8 (still find myself reaching for it as well as reaching for the stick and pressing for the clutch!), but the new electric parking break is fine with me.

May not be definitive but it did bear on me during my own shopping!

No perfection here, just a thought! Each system has pluses and minuses.

Actually, the LEd's emit far less heat than any other system. However, the base of the lamp (the electronics) generate a bit of heat, so the cooling system is to prevent damage to the adjacent wiring etc in the back. Or at least this is my understanding of it.

Sorry, I read your post wrong. I get it now. Probably a smart choice on your part.
