having a short ram is not that great because it sucks in all the heat from the engine. i would prefer a cold air intake the more cold air the more power. with the short ram it sucks in all the warm air from the engine so its not good. thats what my auto teacher told me

I'm sure your auto teacher knows more about turbo cars than the 82340823408230 people out there who are running short rams. The turbine heats up the air anyway, so cold air is pointless. Therefore the free flowing SRI is gonna spool faster than the Injen with it's 90 degree bend. I'm not going to discuss this anymore, it's all in this thread. I've been here from the start, I just thought this was never going to come out.

is this heat shield 2 sides of a box? or a bottomless box like in vega's picture on page 3 or whatever? And outof curiosity is metal the best thing to make a heat shield out of?

Which also proves that teachers can know less than students. Additionally, it proves that teachers teach incorrectly because they learned incorrectly or don't know and use other knowledge to explain something.

I've learned a lot from teachers but do yourself a favor and teach yourself. Learn by doing. Trust yourself before others.

READ ENTIRE threads before making statements like this. Or, just read the post or 2 before it where that debate was mentioned again.

Learn by doing. Learn by reading.

Here's a homework assignment: Buy Inisidious' SRI. Buy Injen's CAI. Dyno back to back. Ask your teacher to analyze the results with you.... maybe you can both learn from it. -I don't mean this as a slam... just an example of a more reliable way to learn ....

I'd be interested in this SRI myself but, I may not have the money at the moment... may have to wait till Christmas.

i'm down for the sri when it comes out.
i use a cai on my mustang gt and it works great, but i don't think it will work as well on my MSP.
if the heat shield comes with it, sign me up. :D

Why?

He is saying he doesn't think a CAI will work as well on his MSP as on his Mustang. If you don't understand why, please read the debate contained in the earlier pages of this thread.

Ok, Insidious, talk to me...

Show me some pics of the heatsheild and of the Bosch diverter. Do you have a part number for the diverter? Same one as is being used on the audi/vw 1.8T by any chance?

Also, any updates on a time frame?

Any chance of getting one in black, or do I have to powder-coat it myself?

Feel free to email or PM me if you want.

Ya know, it's funny. For all the posts that we read about how the SRIs were supposed to better and big companies like Injen not caring about what's really a better performer (cause we allwant CAIs right), we have yet to see the supposed SRI from Billet in production.

While it's true that a CAI may not give us the performance/air flow/yadda yadda yadda , it's hard to argue with a company that already has a product on the market. For all it's faults, the CAI is still probably going to perform better than the stock intake.

So, while others are free to wait around, I'll put my money behind a company that has at least responded to the demands of the community (whether or not those demands are correct)

Ben

P.S. the mods should probably move this thread to the Performance section as it is about intakes. But that does bring up an interesting philosophical question.

Should a thread intended to garner support for an aftermarket product go in the general MSP section or one of the other sections (i.e. Performance)?

Ben

My 2 cents is that There is probably enough traffic that is MSP specific that more sub forums are needed. A lot of this info is for the Turbo only car and specifically the MSP. I am not convinced that these items belong in the general performance section as they are of little value to non MSP owners.

sorry to rewrite eevrything stated but comin from the nissan side of things with a sr powered 240sx, a cai is pointless for a turbo car, unless its not all bent to hell, the long ass pipe and bends on the ingen cai voids all gains the cold air would do....best intake for a turbo car is no intake at all, test it out and see for urself, ull feel more power and much better responces from the shortest smoothest intake possible.....just my 2 cents, im just gonna get some aluminim piping and get a weldin shop to slap it together and spend 30 bucks to get is powdercoated......nuttin special with the same affect :)
