New MS6 owner, first snow drive

Well, I picked up my MS6 from the dealer on Saturday and today we got about 1.5" of snow on the ground this morning. First drive in the snow with the new ride, I was definitely impressed by how well the AWD seemed to work, but I felt the brakes were way too sensitive. The ABS went wild a few times during a <15mph decel. I'm assuming that the stock tires aren't gonna do squat for winter driving, so it looks like a set of winter tires might not be a bad idea.

Definitely get some winter tires. The stock tires are high performance summer tires. I picked up my car on Saturday also, but didn't get snow(2 inches) until this Monday. On my way home from work I felt like I was all over the place. Got the winter tires on this morning and it's night and day. I can now drive my car like it was meant to be driven.

I'm gonna look into it, right now I think I'm just gonna have to make do with the stockers until next year. I had Blizzaks for my Protege, and they made a world of difference. I miss them now. The AWD seemed to help once and a while, but the brakes lock up so quick that you just slide.

stock tires are like hockey pucks on ice in the snow. a lot of us have dunlop winter sport m3's in the 225/45/18 size. they are real nice.

I might be able to get a set of Pirelli winter tires from a forum member selling his MS6, so that would work out well.

I see you're from Pittsburgh, I was born not too far outside of there, Mt. Pleasant to be exact. I still have quite a few relatives there.

Hi all:
1st post, but live near tunersteve.....had about 15" in the driveway on New Years Day, and the car went through it just fine...luckily, an Explorer made a path to the main drag...while it goes pretty good in the snow, it still sits pretty low, (relative to 15" of snow!) My winter wheel/tire setup helped a lot! Even the dealer in Ypsilanti said the stock tires were a "crash waiting to happen" in the winter. BTW, former Pittsburgher myself!!!!! (Wexford)

Welcome to the forums, and I wanted to suggest that you check out the MI forum, we try to get together and run some events. If you have any more questions, PM me.

car is excellent in snow. Take it from someone that lives in snow 5 months a year, and I have snow banks in front of my house ....almost as tall as my house, no joke.

Always recommend getting winter tires. The Summers are a death trap on snow, don't try it. They are track tires, not snow tires
