Does the new style light wrap around the corner so it can be seen from the rear of the car?

Doesn't look like it. I think it's more important to signal the person coming up alongside you from the rear. I still like the original Muth signal mirrors with the LED arrow at the edge of the mirror surface.

No, the driver cannot see the blinker on both designs (and that's by design).

With my right blinker on I can see a faint light at night on my passenger side if I look over and concentrate on that area. I personally do not want to see bright LED orange lights blinking at me, like the Muths. I have good side vision and it would distract me more than not. And like you said CX-SV, the reason Mazda designed it the way they did.

I think I prefer the older design because the driver can see the blinker.

Just saw neighbor's CX9 and it has very similar mirror. I like the fact that turn signal will be visible from the back of it now.

In terms of the shake it does not happen in my 14.5 as much as it did with 2013 model. We'll see. Hopefully somebody will report back once they get the new kind.

Good to hear. I think it will be a while until the diagrams for the 2015s are online. I gotta see how much is interchangeable between the two and if it even uses the same mounting method

Will the dealership not address the vibration issue? I just purchased a 2015 touring and have the vibration issue. Haven't called them yet but will be stopping by later this week to pick up a couple accessories.

Anyway I like the new design, the old one never made a lot od sense to me, less visible light than the new one.
Its nearly a year with my car now, and I do think Mazda need to sharpen up their act, designing mirrors isn't rocket science.

I don't know how much weight savings Mazda achieved by putting flimsy materials like the thin door sheet metal, hood and having the mirrors hang on the doors instead of the corner of the A pillar, I just can't believe its worth it... looking also at all the trims around the side windows, they just feel so cheap... like I could just pull them apart without using too much strength.

I personally don't see the benefit of the mirror turn signal being more up front like the new ones... The blinkers on the headlights are enough for visibility. the current mirror blinkers are fine to me.

For me, instead of changing the mirrors for these new ones, Mazda should have:

- updated the headlights with the led strips like the Mazda 6/3
- updated the head unit (at least software) and make it a bigger screen
- added paddle shifters
- added auto up down windows for all windows/moonroof
- added heads up display like the new Mazda 3
- added the vent open/close rollers for the centre vents like some European models (why don't we have these?)

all those things are comfort/convenience features. the new mirrors are a safety thing = especially if it has eliminated the shaking issue.

Yes, you are totally right, they are confort/convenience, but still things Mazda should have on its most expensive vehicle.

The only safety issue with the mirrors, is the shaking...
If that's fixed great, other than that, I don't see the current mirrors blinkers as being a safety issue.

My point was why Mazda changed this part, but leave's other features behind that the other models in the line up (for less money) have. To me, when you buy the most expensive vehicle from a brand, it should have the most bells and whistles.

Its something mazda has been doing for a while, but I don't get... Like my 2008 mazdaspeed3 (the most expensive "mazda 3" in the line up at the time) It didn't have heated seats and couldn't have a sunroof option that where available on the lesser trims, I understand the weight saving thing... but its a sporty car, not a full on race car, plus all the competition had them.

The new mirrors hopefully have a safety issue resolved (vibration), plus safety enhancement (by adding increased blinker visibility from front, similar to Mercedes mirrors) and less important, enhanced styling. All good news related to mirrors and the topic in this thread.

I've had it looked at twice. First time they replaced the glass and it was a small improvement but it still vibrated at highway speeds. Second time I had them fix it they claim they replaced some other bits (not sure if it was the whole internals or not) but they did a bad job putting it back together (broke a few tabs on the white mirror cover and the door card had missing fasteners) and I had to go back and fix some of their stuff. Mirror still vibrates, maybe even worse than before.

I just don't feel like dealing with them anymore to fix it. The parts for the current mirror aren't too expensive, about $150 for the whole assembly, $80 for the glass, $50 for the mirror cover. Assuming the glass has stayed the same and can be used again for only $200 or so per mirror to resolve the issue myself knowing I'm doing the job right would be worth it to me. I do a ton of highway driving at 75mph sometimes even up to 80mph and at times the driver mirror is near unusable. I can see there is a car there, but I couldn't identify the make/model due to how much it vibrates.

I still say that unless these new mirrors absolutely completely fix the shaking (the real problem and only real safety issue with this part) this is a useless new "feature".
Seriously, if these new blinker position makes anyone feel safer... I feel bad for humanity as a whole.

I can only imagine how cars with no side markers at all are dangerous now...
May as well start wearing helmets in cars just to be sure.

And I maintain that mazda's priorities are wrong by only changing these mirrors. That there are more important part updates that have not been addressed.

lol, no prob if we stretch a bit. I know all the tired safety nazi rhetoric. Maybe some have even noticed helmets on Harley motorcyclists, bicyclists and snow skiers today too (not the case in the 60's, time moves on). But turn signals that are visible to others lurking in blind spots add value, I know from decades of driving experience.

Personally I'm glad to see Mazda make improvements mid-stream and not wait until next generation models. The CX-5 is very successful, so I think they have a pretty good grip on priorities, being a business, not a charity or at the whim of auto forums. I must be ADD too.

Time for another dealer service department, IMHO. What you are experiencing is not acceptable.

In northern California, our normal freeway cruising speeds are around 75-80 mph, I have no unusual mirror vibration on my 2013, built in Feb. 2012.
