hey guys,

i've had my ms3 for about 6 months now (bought it used from a local carmax) and i've been trying to find a good forum to find out good information about my car.

i was previously on two other forums before i found this one. one forum bashed me and told me to donate. after i said i wouldnt donate because they were treating me with such disrepect they told me to "go to 247"

so i did, and now im here. lol.

PS i'm getting the mod bug and i really want to get a BOV and intake, which ones are best? tyia. (spin)(spin)(spin)

Welcome! We won't force you to donate. Every forum is a bit different so hopefully you found the one to fit you.

Welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear you got grief elsewhere.

For intakes, you have to choose between Cold Air Intakes (CAI) and Short Ram Intakes (SRI). The CAI will pull in colder air, which is good, but it is harder to install- its piping will snake down into the bumper/wheel well area. The SRI will pull in air from the engine bay, which will tend to be warmer, but it is a very simple install. Most folks who have tried both have seen little or no noticeable difference in performance, from what I have read. YMMV- be sure to use the search function here, as there are dozens of threads discussing CAI vs. SRI.

I personally have a Cobb SRI with an AEM Dryflow filter. I just switched to that filter, hoping that a non-oiled filter will keep the MAF sensor cleaner. Time will tell.

Don't know if you have any warranty left, but the Mazdaspeed CAI is the only unit that wont void a factory warranty. Some dealers will also insist that their techs install it for you in order to keep that warranty valid. Which is horse$h17, but they'll claim it.

As for a BPV, I would also hold off unless you find the stock unit is failing. In my case, my stock unit WAS failing from day 1, only holding about 12-13psi. It should have been holding 15.x psi, if I recall correctly. I replaced with the Forge unit for its simplicity and the "nearly stock" appearance. The Forge BPC does produce a "ping" noise that some love, some hate, but few are indifferent to. I enjoy boosting up as I am approaching a pedestrian, and then letting off the throttle & watching heads turn in confusion. Between the "ping" and the "whoosh," I have described the sound as C-3PO with hay fever.

LOL Kain...you missed the small, but important, difference between force and a strong, enthusiastic suggestion (fuoops)

hey guys, thanks for the warm welcomes.

and i watched some videos of the forge and it doesnt seem to suit me well, too much pinging. lol.

my sn actually says natorac backwards...
my SN is kind of an inside joke between my friends and i because they would make fun of the way i would say \"cartoon\" when we were watching initial D because i would some how emphasize ROTAN ( i was unaware of it with my speech impediment)
