New Member, M3 5 Door 2.3L 2008

Hey guys, i've been reading your site for a few days, and a few of the posts actually helped me decide on the car itself. I.. well I say I, but my parents just purchased a 2008 Mazda 3 Hatchback. It's a 5 speed and it's the brightest red i've seen in a while.

There's only a couple problems at the moment. The sound system, I can only turn it up to 32, while on some CD's that's more than enough, on other's it's nothing. As with my iPod (it has a built in AUX cable) it doesn't have a iPod scroll through on the controls.

I don't have the bose speakers, just the regular ones. And If I get a sub and some new speakers would the MAX on my in dash just get louder or would I need to upgrade that to make the sound system louder?

I'm pretty new to mods, this is my second car, but i'm going to be keeping it through college and want to do some modifications to it to really make it my own. Thanks guys I appreciate the input.

the cd's that '32' isn't loud enough don't happen to be burned cds do they? its probably your compression rate or something with your burner as opposed to the stereo system. 32 should be pretty much nothing but distortion and with distortion comes blown speakers. you should turn it up and adjust the settings (bass, mid, treble) for the music to sound good not just loud. if you find your self constantly turning it up because you aren't happy with it then get distortion you should upgrade your sound system. i don't mean just throw a sub in either. check the main forums audio section there is a 1000$ and 500$ audio build threads. but if i were you i would just buy a new in dash reciever, a set of new front speakers and a small sub and amp. probably around 500 though you could easily spend more if you are looking for something serious.

as for the ipod controls, you need to get the ipod interface for you to have control over your ipod via head deck/steering wheel controls

theres a tsb on our headunits. go to your mazda dealership and ask them to listen to it and they 'should' send it off and give u a new one with the software update.
