New Key Fob

Hey, just joined. I'll be picking up an 07 Mazda5 by the end of the week. The dealer does not have a key fob for the car. I've called the dealer and they want $193 for the keyfob and $85 for programming. Anyone have a better way to get a remote for one of these things. What works/doesn't work. Thanks!

I bought an extra one for my 2007 off of e-bay for about $50. Have been using it for 5 years without an issue. Then as you know you just have to stop by the dealership and give them $85 so they can take 2 minutes to press a few buttons... what a rip, but at least much cheaper than also buying the fob from them.

Can also get duplicated by locksmith but savings will not be that great.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll start searching ebay.

acb13013 - One other thing I looked into was adding a remote start and using that key fob for everything. The company I talked to said new remote start unit installed would be $280 if the key was chipped and $180 if it was not. Still looks like the email/dealer programming is the cheapest way to go.

Find a good auto locksmith, they will have a computer to program the car/keys. Bought 1 switchblade and 2 transmitter keys for $225 cutting & programming included.
