RX-8
Hello all,

I wanted to drop by and give a brief intro. I am in the military and before I got left my duty station in Japan, my brother in VA found a good deal in a RX-8 (Grand Touring) with 80k miles, only 20k miles on a new motor. It is completely stock besides a K&N Typhoon V1 (which I need to replace in time). My plan to get some power pulleys, CAI, and a catback exhaust at the moment. Also, some sticky tires for daily driving and the track.

I love road racing and autocrossing (w/ veedubs) - I have not done these events with the 8 but I'm looking forward to do one in the near future.

Welcome. What branch?

As far as the mods go, if you are planning on auto-crossing you will want to be sure you don't kick yourself out of the stock class (CS) by accident.

Underdrive pullies are a cheap mod but they wont do much. If you are looking to up the power and don't care about what class you are in at the auto-x then you should go for a midpipe (w at least one resonator) and an AP. The mazdaspeed CAI and the AEM CAI are identical and you can usually find the AEM for a bit cheaper.

Thanks! The branch is Navy...

That's true, I should be enjoying CS before I engage in any modding. With your mods, what class in auto-x do you fall in?

Not really sure. I think I could run STX, but i might have to take one thing or another off. The car is not ideally set up for any class in particular, just set up in a way that I like.

For CS you can change the wheels, you must maintain the same size width and offset (within +/- 5mm as stock IIRC). You can also change the FSB an the Struts.\

Edit: I should add that you can run any size tires that you want.
