Well. I did, but I kind of live in NY, and I don't think my dad would want to drive down there just so I could check out a car. But I do wish, because 6g would be awesome.:) But it's too far, unfortunately...

I hate this. Right in front of me, and it won't happen... Arrghhh... :-P

look aroudn these forums. many of us have flown long distances to get our msps/mp3s. i flew to detroit to get mine adn drove it back to houston. these cars are rare

well depends on what kind of power this kid is looking for. Also if he wants a beginner car or a car with some potential. It takes some determination to get stuff for our cars...

Welcome to the boards. Alot of good advice to be found here (as you are already aware). My .02 cents....go for a P5 (biased opinion). They handle great, look great stock, 16" inch 5 lugs rims standard and a blast to drive. From what I have read though if you want to 'boost' down the road the manual is the way to go.

Zoom-Zoom(burnout)

the only problem is the protege 5 is still up there...a really used one is still going to run you 7K+...may be too much, for just getting started...?

SEDANS FTW!!! not really, he needs to go with what he would be comfortable with.

Oh I know that much. :-) I'm not the kind of kid that would expect to go to AutoZone or something like that. I've been reading and I work on cars... I'd only want the best for my car... Even if it meant I'd take years to build it, which I most likely would.

Does anyone have any idea what insurance would run for for this car... I'm 17and it'd be my first car... Can you give me any advice on how to find this out?

Well, I'm just looking to experiment. Like I said. It's going to be my first car, if I do get it. I would like to see how certain parts affect the car. It doesn't have to be boosted. I'd prefer not... I prefer the NA way. I just want something to mess with modification wise and just to work on even if it is not for modifications. :-) Just a project for at home is all right now to experiment with. If I could work on something outside of autotech, it'd definitely give me an advantage I believe.:)

Yeah. Up here, I can't find one for under 10K... But a lot of them have low mileage, so that's why.

I'm just going to save up a little more money... After my last year of highschool (which is next year) I'll then decide between what I want... If I don't change my mind down the road (which I'm sure I will though) I'll choose between the Mazda Protege and the VW Golf... If Mazda 3's go down by then, I might consider those instead of the Protege...
