2023 CX-5 2.5T ... 2024 MX-5 RF GT
It's funny because when I climb out of the MX-5 and into the CX-5, it's downright spacious!Space in the CX5 is about the only downside but for me it's a lower priority.

It seems the RAV4 and CRV have 'grown' a bit on the interior dimensions the last few years but the CX-5 2017 upgrade didn't do that.Between the two vehicles I have had headlights replaced under warranty (2016) and just The Rogue didn't appeal at all and the CRV, and RAV4 were fine but not nearly as much fun to drive. Mazda seems to be driven by persistent, iterative improvements in existing tech rather than jumping on the bandwagon (eg., CVTs). Good luck.
Agree. The current RAV4 seems to be about the same size as the first Highlander I purchased in 2003.It seems the RAV4 and CRV have 'grown' a bit on the interior dimensions the last few years but the CX-5 2017 upgrade didn't do that.
I saw some article about the most reliable vehicles and one thing the best had in common was a long run with many minor improvements over the years (like Tacoma, F-150, Camry, etc.).
