MP5 02 22v
Just wanted to thank you all as after searching for a daily driver yet something I could have fun in (and my kids) I came across this web site. After reviewing your post, pictures and comments I purchased a silver 2002 MP5 for 8k with 9k miles (mint)... and love every second I drive it. I've had it for 4 months and have already started with the audio portion, changing head unit, door speakers and currently working on a custom enclosure for 2 12" subs. 5% tinted windows all the way around and looking to work on the out side this upcoming spring. Can't make up my mind on rims 17 ? or 18 ? as I'm not much of a exterior guy and don't know what would be better. Also want to lower it just a bit to give it a more agressive look.

Furthermore I have advise more of my friends of this site and some are actually now hunting to get thier own MP5's...so to all memebers thank you, because of you people want to spend money...lol

If anyone could share some light on the 17-18 rims and how low can I go with out feeling every crack in the road, I would appreciated.

Thank you all once again, I will post picture once she's ready to pose

Welcome and congrats on your purchase!

If you don't want to be feeling every pebble in the road, you definitely don't want 18's. I have 215/40/17's and like them... seems to be the median choice. Some go with 205/45/17's as well.

PS - Be sure to read Rishie's fitment recipe in the Tires / Wheels section (it's a sticky).

Enjoy!

Welcome to the boards my friend, be sure to try the fish and don't forget, as they always tell ME :Search is your FRIEND

haha yeah that's the barge canal down at Bellamy park. Nice to meet other locals, Say PR5 do you go to Suny Albany by chance? Just curious as I'm looking to transfer there next semester.

Holy hell, that's a great deal. I got mine for 9500 with 22K and i thought that was agreat deal.

You guys hould check out www.midstateimports.com it's a CNY forum for, well, import enthusiasts. There's only one other mazda on there besides me and it's a P5, but they're a pretty cool gang.

Congrats on getting a P5 in such mint condition!

Just remember, upping the rim size to 17 or 18 will slow the acceleration of the car somewhat.

I went to suny albany but "graduated" in 2001. I am taking my last class this semester so I will actually have the degree now. Since you are transferring you would probably live in the downtown dorms which is good because you are close to all the bars and stuff but you need to get uptown for class and stuff, since you have a car that won't really be an issue. What are you going to major in?

Cool, I'm looking to go for public policy with a minor in planning. I'm getting my AS in pub policy at MV. What'd you go for? Sorry for thread jacking, lol.

Hey, did you ever get rid of those tires?

just as viVid mentioned... 18s are not necessarily your friend. I'd go with th 17s and then try to get the Tokico Illuminas/Racing Beat springs combo (MSP setup) or something adjustable (coilovers)... you could just get springs but you'll wear out the stock shocks really quick and it'll make the ride harsher than with a good setup.

congrats on your purchase... soccer moms or crack dealers, however you got it, it was a steal... :D

SUNY Albany's public policy is supposed to be really good. I went for Information Science which is part of the Rocafeller College.

I just picked up the tires today. There isn't quite as much tread left on them as I originally thought there was. There is like 1/8 inch tread left so they may be good for one more season.

Ah good to know they've got a good program. I'm a bit bummed because I won't know anyone there, but I'm looking forward to getting out of here! Ah, same with my tires I've got 2/32 and 5/32 and I'm hoping I can squeeze one more season out of them, so I've been on the lookout for replacements.
