New GTO guys realizing their cars are slow.

well no s*** suspension mods but what are we talking parts wise and final costs? Don't compare moded to stock, no point in doing so.

for the amount you'd spend on a good set of coilovers and sway bars, an f-body will turn the way you feel about domestic boats inside out.

also remember how much fwd sucks teh balls.

Cars is cars. If you hate a certian type of car based on principal then you're an idiot.

I love my P5, but a GTO would be a hell of a lot of fun.

All those F-Bodies were rattle boxes. I reamember one of my friends had an IROC....lol, what a pile. Leaked, rattles like you wouldn't believe, rattles that rattled so loud they dround out other rattles. Transmission trouble. Just not the pinicle of craftmenship.

i like all cars. But either way the foreign cars in general are so far superior to american domestics its not even funny. Look how top gear compared the vette to lower costing bottom of the line TVR, porsches etc. It came in last with they're "base" type model cars. Either way if i wanted a fast ass car i'd try to buy something from the brits or somewhere overseas first.

obviously, most of you are hellbent on thinking imports are the best thing ever.

word of advice -- keep an open mind.

You can have an open mind and still realize the imports are better cars. They generally hold there value better and are more reliable.

take a look at J.D. Powers' list of initial quality (by mfr.).

got a laugh reading this old thread opened up again!

well, after driving the GTO for a couple years (75,000 miles; my driving) and compare it to a Mazda Protege w/same milage and see what car is tighter? I am sure it will be the mazda or any other import it gets compared to.

Dude initial quality? lol come on. Who cares. It doesn't mean crap. Asking people about there purchase is the single biggest joke going. Oh course people will praise a huge money decision they just made. People will naturally say they made a great decision, it's done and over. Helps heal buyers remorse. Initially the car may seem like it's quality. Put 60 70k on it and get back to me. Ever ride in an F-body with 60 70 80k on it. O man.

"Those times on the STi and Evo are awesome times. I cant imagine the times they will be putting down with simple bolt ons....ie. pulley, chip, exhaust etc. (kinda like the Cobra). But like all imports and Cobras, they all need some type of forced induction just to keep up with the REAL bad boys....."

Because Evos and STi's have pullies, you know. And I'm sorry, but for the 3500 pound Cobra keeping up with a light-ass fiberglass Corvette, it NEEDS FORCED INDUCTION. And I guess he forgot about the 500HP Viper that will kill a Corvette... without F/I.

Damn I hate dumb people.

A viper would KILL a corvette, but the Corvette is built way better than the Viper. The corvette is a nicer car over all. It's not 100% about who has the most HP.

we aren't talking fwd cars. we are talking rwd gto's vs awd imports. And again, no point in comparing modded to stock cars but I know what you mean. Of course a car can be made to handle, but stock it's a 'no-contest'. Keep in mind, I'm not domestic bashing as I actually like domestics where they have merit.
