i have a 99 es, and just got a p5 gauge cluster, and everything works fine on it except the temp gauge goes from C to H right away even if the car hasn't been running for the whole day... it just stays on H and doesnt move until i turn the car off, the temp gauge works fine with my old cluster...

does anyone know why this is?

the cluster should be getting the same voltage, but im not sure...
all the plugs fit in the slots like the should...

no, its not overheating or anything like that...this morning i start the car (after its been off the whole night) and the temp gauge shoots up H right away, so its not overheating... no matter how long i drive the car too, it still stays on H...

any other ideas?

I have this exact problem, I'm guessing the gauge is looking for either a different voltage or amperage with the new cluster.

the P5 cluster won't work on a 99, you should've known that already... it's been said many times

ok, well do you think its possible to take the white face plates off of the p5 cluster an put it on my old one?
...w/o breaking any needles?

I really don't care about the temp gauge, I check everything every oil change and the car has had no history of overheating. A solution would be nice if anyone knows of one. And it looks so much better to look at the P5 cluster than the old cluster.

as long as your tach and speedo work it should not be a problem. personally i would ignore it. replacing gauge faces can be done but its alot of hassle, expecially if you break the needles which is very easy.

yeah... you're probably right ken!

though i did switch out the lights and it looks very cool to say the least!!!

Just a suggestion, if you're brave enough to try it. You could pop the temp gauge needle off, let the car warm up to normal temp, and then press the needle back on at the midpoint between hot and cold. I know, it's a risky attempt, especially since many of us have broken these needles before...
