OK it is a carolla, it is an after market knob, the stock knob is in the glove box, it's ugly and all grey and there is an '02 mits. eclipse spyder next to the carolla but you can't see it in the pic. I didn't know the DaveB rings were after market I thought they were stock, I also thought the carbon fiber inside was stock, I thought the shifter was stock, I actually didn't think my car had anything but stock stuff. So I recant my earlier statement, apparently there are some mods on my car but I didn't do any of them. My last cars were as follows: 1991 Chevy Berreta 5spd I loved it but the clutch blew....three times, I've learned my lesson about driving like that, next I had a 1991 Saab 900 5spd I also loved it but it was ugly, next I had a 1990 ford taurus...that car sucked everything, next was a 1992 olds cutlass supreme it sucked. Now I have this car that you guys are telling me all about in casual conversation. Thanks for the info! -Joe D.

Yay I win it was a corolla.. Wait what knob is in the glovebox? Is it the black-ish leather ergonomic one? That's the one my car came with stock at least, and I think all the other 2002.5 up ones.
Do you know where the original owner had the car? I think it'll be on the title or something I'm not sure.. maybe registration. or even carfax.

You won't find any forums with those other cars you had that compares to the love we have for our Mazdas.
So the Protege5 emblem was replaced on the trunk and the MAZDA was painted dark as well. Take an engine bay pic too. This is like a game for us. Find the upgrades.

I also noticed the blue bulbs in the highbeams. Damn there's alot of rust in that engine bay. Most likely it was outside all the time in lovely NH winters.
That does not look like carbon fiber around the shifter to me. Is it marble? I know for sure it's not a DGM product. It does not cover the entire piece and is made of that flexible stuff.

Yeah that is marble around the shifter, the carbon fiber is around the radio and around the mazda symbol on the steering wheel. The original owner was from Worcester, and I forget where the second owner was from. I am the third owner according to carfax. The carfax report came back completely clean, I checked before buying since it is an '02 and over 100k. I would love to get the rust out of the bay. There was a cold air intake at one point but the dealer took it before he sold it to me, I was kind of pissed but I'm going to buy another one anyway. I saw some carbon fiber wiper blades at Auto Zone, but they were pretty ugly so I passed on those. -Joe D.
