These are the new wheels from Centerline. They are forged and as you can see from the Ad, they are extremely light weight. The 17"s weigh 13.5lbs. 18"s 13.75. I'm still trying to get the pricing. They come in Black, Gold, Silver and White. For more info go to Centerline Wheels.com

Our stock Racing Harts tip the scales at 23lbs. Wheelguru weighed his a while back. So buying these Centerlines in a 17" will save you 39lbs in unsprung weight. :D That would give us about a 4-6 hp increase

APEXi,

do you have any price listings on SSR rims? I know they make some extremely light and good looking rims.

Those look nice...

Those looks really nice...Is ARD gonna get pricing for us on those and more importantly do they come in a size that fits??

Retail price for 17" is a reasonable $330 per wheel. If people are really interested in these I say shoot ARD P5 an email and see what he can do. I was just showing you guys these wheels. I don't actually have rights to distribute them. I'm sure Rishie can find out more info for the guys who are interested. I'm sure he can get SSR's too since he rolls on the GT1's on his P5 which are 17lbs for the 18"s. :D

Even lighter wheels!!!

Actually there is a set of Racing Hart wheels that are even lighter...those are the CP-035's. At 17 inches, they weigh 7.5 lbs each (and I've lifted one on a display shelf at a shop...I believe it!). I was planning to go for those when I had the cash...which may be a while :(

The price is reasonable if compared to the above mentioned set of rims...they are around $340 to $370 per wheel! You can check them out at various stores, but here's one site I found selling them...

Ok, I'm being cheap, but does anyone know of a lightweight wheel set, with tires mounted (equivelant to our dunlops or better), either slightly scuffed and or used, that might be going for under $600? That seems to be the best price I can find lately, and I really don't want to spend that much just for autocross tires. I would like a spare set to take to the track on race weekends.
I know I'm asking a lot, but if anyone out there knows of any, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks guys.

Actually the Racing Harts that weigh 7.5lbs are the 15". The 17" Racing Harts weigh 12.53-13lbs. You can call them and they'll clear that up for you. There is no 17" on the face of the planet that weighs less than 11lbs unless you're talking about magnesium wheels which are about $1500 a wheel. The lightest 17" I know of are the are the Becket's which are I believe just over 12lbs.

Actually, you're probably right, ApexiStud...I didn't go and weigh those wheels myself (but the sales guy was going on about the 7 lb thing). It 'felt' really light when I picked it up, but then again I would never be able to tell if they were 7 lbs or more than that just by picking one up. All I know is they were really light, and definitely one of the lightest wheels I've ever seen :)

Thanks for picking up my error...didn't want to misinform anyone hehe...personally, I LOVE those wheels though :D

I did call centerline yesterday and found out that only the 17" will be a usable size. I believe it is a +40, I can't remember where I wrote this s*** down. Whoever is really interested, I will call and find out exact pricing and ETA.

Please e-mail me: autornd@hotmail.com

Sedan or Wagon, 4 or 5 lug
Color and size looking for.

Thanks, Rishie

I do recall that it will not fit a wagon without modifications.

Quick Q:

Anyone know aything about these wheels? I think I've found a good deal, but I was wondering how well they will work on our cars. (wheelguru?)

Link is below. They are the Nippon Racing Hyperspeed 17" Wheels, 5x114, 42 offset, only $378/set plus $58 shipping. Really looks good to me. Any thoughts?

I need to know what vehicle you have. If it's a wagon you'll need to run a 205/40 and you should be fine, just barely.

I'll call tommorrow and see what's up with pricing. that's a good deal though. Not light in weight I might add. Something detrimental to the acceleration and handling of our cars.

Thanks for the info. Do you know of anything similarly priced that is light?
Just want to drop a few pounds and see if I can pick up a tenth of a sec. here and there on the course.
Thanks,

CJS

PS: Sorry, I have an MP3

cj, are you autocrossing in GS this year? If so, We could proabably compare notes as the season goes on. Kumho finally has the 20/40/17 V700 tire available. This could be the trick to catapult us to the top of the podium. I'm also looking for some cheap 17's to mount them on first though.

I'd love to be able to swap notes with someone. I was wondering about the Kuhmos also.
I spoke to a "kid" (looked about 12, claimed to be 22) from a local shop last night while out playing around town. (Yes, I'm still like to cruise around town) He claimed he can "hooke me up" if I join their racing club. Looked more like a ricer club from the way his cavalier was riced out. (It was truly a sad sight.) Anyway, I'll let you know what they claim they can do for me.
All I know is that from the first event, I LOVE the dunlops that are factory for us. Wish I could afford to run them on both sets, but hopefully the Kuhmos are less expensive and stickier.
Let me know what you find out.

There's a lot of that "hooking up" garbage that goes on. It hardly ever amounts to anything but a waste of time. It's funny how many of these "race" clubs you never see at the races! You see a lot of them at car shows, but the only racing going on is to see who gets to stand in the front at the bikini contest!
Or maybe they mean who can get to the next stoplight first.
If it wasn't for autocross I probably would be getting rid of this car soon. I get way too many punks in their trashed Hondas wanting to "race" me on the street, then getting road rage when I don't "race" them. I almost got run over by a guy the other day trying to pull that crap! And I had my wife in the car. I'm no geezer, but I'm just too old for that s***. BUT I like to drive fast and like autocross and road racing.
ANYWAY, the Kumho V700's are $125 ea. on tirerack.com

Later!

I know how you feel about the not wanting to street race thing. I was at Autozone buying some stuff last night and a guy started talking about all of his corvettes and then asking about my car. He said "Oh, you must have seen Fast and the Furious and then went out to buy that." Damn was I pissed.
I said "As a matter of fact, I did see the movie, and I owned the car before that. I don't street race, I autocross. You ought to bring one of your vettes out and see if you can hang with me at an autocross."
He was silent. Good thing for him. I was pissed at his ignorant assumption. :)
Just wanted to share my story.
