Well I installed my new downpipe lastnight and I have to say that it made little to no difference to the performance of the car. I cannot tell if it did anything accept make the car a little louder when you are hard on the gas.

So with the mods I had before I think I hit the point of diminishing returns performance wise with the car. Most of the other components I had added I could feel the difference but nothing with the downpipe.

The biggest performance hit was the manifold, fuel pump and cai the rest has not been as dramatic. On a good note there is no cut of any kind with the car and I am not fooling the ECU at all. Its as I would say oh natural.

Yah, but the exhaust manifold was already on. You aren't going to get the full returns with each successive exhaust mod. You can only improve exhaust flow so much...

I think this is what I am running into right now.

Because I did the manifold and the intake stuff I no longer had bottlenecks so there is little to be had by adding any new components at the moment.

The only way to add more power at the moment is to start tuning the car I think. Adding a little boost, leaning the car a little etc...

Did you reset the ECU? It takes a few days to feel the full effects...
Supposedly, the ECU needs like 5 start-up cycles to fully "tune" for the new mod. I know when I first installed mine, I had felt no dramatic improvements, but as the days went on, it felt stronger...

Just give it a little longer... Though its true, the more mods you have, the less each subsequent mod yields dyno butt results...

I disconnected the battery before driving it. I have had 2 ingnition cycles so far on it so we will see if it gets better but on a side note at least for the moment I know that I dont have any bottlenecks in the system.

Give it time. I have heard a few ppl in Oz say the same. Not much difference at first then once the ECU re-learns the car feels alot stronger & pulls til redline. Fom all reports, other than a tune, its the one mod that should make a big difference.

Well this is now the 3rd day with the new downpipe and things are better once I experimented a little with it.

So under normal driving conditions on the highway and you step on it there is not much difference until the rpms are above 4.5k

It seems the downpipe comes on strong at 4.5k rpm and above for me. The added ignition cycles have improved things performance wise.

So it makes a difference and the butt dyno can feel it but you feel it in the upper rpm range not down low.

Right now I have all performance mods and I am at a point that I think only a dyno could really tell me how much a mod makes a difference since its really hard to tell when you are skating down the road. I cannot test in any gear bellow 3rd since first and second are useless at 1/4 throttle and above since tires rip loose.

Time for larger tires since the stockers are not enough grip on the road for the power I now have.

So all in all I am happy with the downpipe and all my current mods. I love this car, it runs like a top with balls to spare what more can I ask for.

Good stuff sparkplug. It think you will find that mid & high range torque have increased , plus there isnt such a drastic power drop at about 5200-500rpm.

AD07: Yep you hit the nail on the head. I did notice that on the higher rpm range that there is no power drop at all even between shifts now compared to before. It pulls instantaneously on gear shifts while before I had a slight hesitation between shifts.

So now its time to let the dust settle and see what tuning solution to get in order to get all these mods working in concert. At the moment I am running super rich which is good and bad but there is power to be had there

I might have to get SuperStrech18's device to help out

After purchasing softer wider tires I have Found that I miss all the smoke and long second gear wheelspin, but the car is really moving now and I suggest that next. My slalom speed is up also. Good reports and sounds like an excellent car you have there.

I like the RE01-R but now in what size 225 or 235. I think I should go 235.

If you prefer a stickier tire you might use a 225/40 and be pleased. I used a lighter 8" wheel. Rotational mass and all!

What tire would you recommend which is stickier ?

For the rims I was looking at Enkei or OZ Ultral..... The OZ at 18lbs while the Enkei I can get them at 17lbs.
