Hi guys, I just got home & finished reading all your posts.....I just want to say the show only shows you parts of what actually went on....for the first show I thought that they did a pretty good job to portray the lives of the two drivers....Then again...they have technically 45 minutes of air time to explain the lives of 6 guys, 2 girls and 2 cars, and a race to end the show... With that in mind, I just wanted to add comments on what everyone is saying.....
I saw some comments regarding the tuners....being one of them...I just want to let you know...the tuners in the show all have at 8+ years in the import industry with pro-class cars.
Autolink crew -
"Dr. Charles" - Driver of the Bergenholtz CRX ....1/4 mile time...mid 8's (sorry can't call his time off the top of my head)
Charles Hansen - 10 year performance tech & 10 sec club member in the drag racing scene
Sharon (me) - hard to say time wise in the industry since I have been around it since before the first sanctioned import drag race at actual race tracks ...and Crew of Gude Performance CRX - ALL MOTOR 11 sec. SOHC 1.6L CARB-ed (doing that time over 3 years ago) *retired the race car ..... but will be back for more*
Apex'i Crew -
Gary Castillo - one of the most reputable tuners in Southern California & Writer for Import Tuner (he does the Power Pages section but not limited to, which im sure most of you read) & 10+ years industry experience
Lanny Higa - Hawaiin import, 9 sec club member.....99 Pomona NHRA quick class winner
Jensen Oda - also works for APEX'I USA , and one of the fabricators of the APEX'I DRIFT CAR....(which im sure most of you are familiar with)
so for you to say that these people are "bolt on tuners", please know who you are talking about before giving your negative input (although you say no offense I just had to point that out...b/c these people have dedicated a lot of time in their lives to being a "bolt on tuner" in your eyes)
Also, Discovery Channel is going into this show blind....not knowing what was gonna happen with the show...to making something for all of us to see. The show was filmed 2 days at apex, 2 days at autolink, 1 track day, and then the days they followed the drivers (obie & leila). With over 150 + hours of footage, You have to cut down as much as possible, but still making the show flow. If they show every single part we put in the cars then we would really be sitting here for more than an hour. The tuners were not told who the drivers of the cars were, and on top of that we did not see the car till the morning of our prespective shoot days. So this already limits what we can do to the car, b/c first we don't know the condition of the car or its motor, and second you try finding talon parts in stock!!...(hahaha..sorry side note ...that was the hardest part...no one stocks talon parts)....also we are given 36 hours to make the calls....find the parts....tear the cars down...and do what we need....while sometimes having to take a part we just put on ...off..so that the film crew can film it again..b/c they had a bad angle, and taking time from us working on the car for hour long interviews...during those assigned hours.
oh yes...I posted this on the rx-7 forum, first of all b/c I am a fellow RX-7 owner **with 3 fd's in my driveway** & also..b/c it's in the lounge section and the footer does say.."Almost anything goes"...
I can't think of much more to comment on ....but if you do have any other questions or comments..I would like to hear them....I'm sure I can still come up with more....but it is 4:25 AM and my head is pounding...**just came from the cast party and wanted to know what you guys were talking trash about**
