New CX-9 owner

CX9
Hey guys,

Just checking in. Just purchased a 2014 leftover CX-9. My wife and I looked at a demo Touring AWD with the electronics package and really liked it...Dealer wanted $30,500 with zero haggling, with 5,000 miles on the clock. The transfer case issue really bothered me however, so I called 2 service managers in the area and they both told me they still see the issues on the 2014 but not as much as earlier units. Supposedly a new part was used starting in 1/14 and the extended warranty on the 2015 was dropped...I have a copy of the bulletins.

Honestly, I still don't think there has been enough time to see if the 2015s are in fact fixed, so in order to save myself a lot of stress I opted for a front driver. We have an ML350 that is a beast in the snow, so I figure I can just use that if like a moron, I need to go out in the snow!

Anyway, white peal, tan leather, with the electronics package for $30K even....I really wanted an explorer, but equipped the same way that vehicle would have been north of $36K.

Haven't driven it much...it barley fits in the garage, so I have to do a little re-organizing....but it is a pretty car.....

Congrats!

With any SUV if you're worried about longevity FWD is the way to go just IMO of course. They are quite big cars, bigger than they really seem!

Seriously big....

It has to be a good 3 feet longer than my ML350...my wife was like, think it will fit in the garage and I laughed. I have 1 inch to spare! Luckily the other side has no stairs and I'll cain the 3 feet back....

as am I. I will wave when I pass you JoeRJGR. I will be in the red one.

Welcome to the forum @JoeRJGR! Throw up some photos when you can. I was also looking at the new eco-boost explorers, but those things are astronomically priced... Similar spec to my GT would have been north of $44k, not to mention I paid no where near MSRP for the 2014 GT last November thanks to all the incentives.

Also, are the copies of the bulletins digital? I keep hearing different information of when the transfer cases were a new part; Some have TSB's saying anything after 11/12 build date, and now you have info saying 01/14. Either way I suppose my AWD would fall under the newest 'case, since it's a 02/14, but still... Knowledge is power, lol.

Voldsom,

Here is the Service Bulletin...one of the Service Managers I called told me that the extended warranty on the transfer cases does not apply to the 2015's.....this SB was issued in 11/28/12. Don't know if there are any others out there...I sometimes wish I would just got the AWD, but I knew it would bother me if I did....either way, you're covered for 7 years 90K under the extended warranty...(I think that's right, I can look that up if you want)

Hey @JoeRJGR, thanks for the post! Yep, that TSB looks the same as the one @avidien posted on your other thread asking about the AWD http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/show...olved-or-not&p=6363903&viewfull=1#post6363903

I wasn't aware that the TC had an extended warranty though... My dealer mentioned nothing of the issues people have or of any additional warranty for it (granted, I didn't ask when I bought the car, but still)... Should be going in for their free oil change this month, going to ask a lot of questions of what they have seen locally around here, as Colorado is an all AWD state for the CX-9, they've had to see a few come in.

Thanks guys, we go to Boca every year and stay at the Embassy Suites on Hilton Honor points....its my little reward for spending so many nights in hotels during the year
