New CX-9 Owner and Hello!

Hello!

My first post! I bought a 2008 CX-9 in late April and am very pleased! Just two weeks ago, took it for a long-drive to Yosemite and the ride was very comfortable.

Right now I am hunting for a good place near San Jose to get a 30K service done. I dont want to go to the Dealer who is charging almost $600 for it. The local precision tune auto says they will do it for $165 and say they will also replace all the fluids...oil, transmission, brake, etc. should I just get it done there?

Most importantly, getting it service other than a dealership, will it void the warranty?

No it will not void your warranty, but keep your receipt for proof of service and what was replaced.

$165 seems fair enough considering a 30K is a glorified oil change! Make sure to you use the correct trans. fluid.

Good for you emperor_black! As Davicho said, make sure the correct fluids are used and intervals observed or that could be used against you in the event of a claim. I only use dealers when I have no choice and keep every receipt/transaction in a folder.

Thanks for the reply guys! Is there a link that lists all the details (fluids types) for a 30K service? ...anything other than what the manual already says.

Also, one (or more) of the speakers have some distortion. I presume the warranty does not cover speakers?

Stick with the manual and buy yourself some quality after-market speakers. Those original paper cones are horrid, even at the Bose level.

Factory warranty does cover speakers and electronics system. However if you are beyond the 36K warranty you are SOL.

I recall someone having a distorted speaker being replaced under warranty.

If wrong fluid was used, the warranty could be voided.
Indie shop is not a problem if they are certified.
Wrong fuild used will be a problem.
$165 is a great deal for all three fluid changes (oil, transmission and brake).

Replacing transmission fluid alone costs more than $100.

Ah well, if its too good to be true...it probably is! He looked up the computer (not sure why he didnt when I called him) and says they wont be replacing any trany fluid or anything. Just topping off all fluids, and the "glorified oil change" and inspections.
