New CM clutch already fried?

NP- s*** let me just call him now.. Look for a PM in the next few. I don't want to forget :)

So did they finally make a centerforce for the p5? I was waiting for this, well not really cause its extra money. I have a ford ranger i use to tow two jet skis and a boat with. It went through 2 clutches (the first was almost toast when i bought it, the orig owner was a goober and liked to do high speed downshifts and toasted the springs in the clutch disk) the second clutch didnt hold worth a s*** and finally the pilot bearing went to s*** on me so i finally started fresh with a new flywheel and a centerforce with a fresh t/o bearing. I have logged many miles on it and have tried to make it slip to no avail. IT has been the best clutch i have ever seen. The pedal feel is slightly stiffer from stock, but not enough to cause calf muscle cramps in traffig, and trust me atlanta is full of it. If i ever replace the clutch in the p5 it will probably be the DF from centerforce as it has proven itslef to me. just my .02

then yes- the price is very comparible and this clutch will hold more a bit more HP from what I understand.

I went on the Centerforce site...and pulled up the Mazda 626 2.0L, the 1997 Probe 2.0L and the 1996 MX6 2.0L and referenced the clutch. Thats how I got that PN. We share the same engine and tranny.

get you a act clutch. we have been running 9 psi on a crx for 3 years and still have not fried the clutch. also the clutch held up to a 65 shot of nos for a year before going to turbo. thats what i recommend.

thanks justin h.

Well damn I'm also in the market for a new clutch. Group Buy???!!???!!!

After installing of my turbo I only got maybe 50-70 miles out of the stock clutch and now today comming home from work I get the slipping clutch feel. %&$^

I would definitly go with the Spec Hybrid. We have Spec make us a clutch that will hold 400-450HP and still be almost stock pedal feel.If there's enough interest we can do a GP on there clutches.

i have the stage II r and have been boosting for a while now. I am making tons of power as you all know and havent seen any problems "As of yet" .

i would like to go with a spec stage 3 or a CM stage 3 later on.

azian... I don't race...and I don't ever dump the clutch.... I had it installed my a dealership... and in less than a year...its done. Stage IIr.

I was doing some more reading on various boards.... do you guys think it could be my flywheel? some say that the light weight flywheel may be warped? Beau what do you think?

To be honest.....I hate my flywheel... having to rev up the car higher at launch for everyday driving has become a bit annoying. I may actually go back to stock when I change the clutch.

Rishie and I were trieing to put something together with Exedy for a race clutch. How much interest is there in something like this for this platform.

yeah cm stage II-r slipping ater 15K miles. I have the 9lb fidanza flywheel but am doubting that it's warped. It's the clutch dude. Time for Spec!!

my cm stage 1 failed pretty quickly too. I always considered clutchmasters to be pretty good, but maybe thats not the case.

I am running this clutch now. Just like Beau says! Stock pedal feel, but the clutch ******* holds power!

Are you serious Linux? Is it that close to stock pedal feel? How is the engagement, short, long, towards the end of release, beginning of release? Well, I guess some of that depends on how the pedal is set, huh?
I am definately getting the SPEC, I sold my brand new ACT clutch so that I could get the same one to hold the 500 ponies it will see once Beau is finished with my car. :D

if rishie is looking into getting esedy to make a setup for ours cars then I would jump on that for ayone planning large hp numbers....Beau has a great setup with the spec clutch and I am not doubting it holds alot better and longer than CM, its just if you go through any import magazine and the big bad companies making the badd ass cars like the 600hp evo and rex's all use EXedy clutches...like spec their sprung hub designs are supposed to feel close to stock and handle anywhere from 450-600hp.

all that said, if it doesnt go through with ArD and the exedy the custom Spec setup from Beau is #1./
