Hi All,

I am a pround owner of just purchased brand new CX-9 touring and I love the new car smell. Any suggestions on how to keep this new car smell for long.

Thanks.

What is the best way to clean the dash and interior. Which one is good: Armor, Meguiar, or something else?

None of those, I use simple cleaning products, Clorox Green Works, Windex, or maybe just plain water on a microfiber cloth. All safe and simple, and no residue left behind.
Modern dashboards are compromised of materials, that have built in protection. Not like cars of yesteryear, where you had to use Armour-All etc. to protect them from cracking.
Now for the leather seats. I use Lexol cleaner and condtioner. great stuff,a dn simple to use.

Interior: I'm a big Armor-All fan, Armor All regular, shine, leather cleaner. Exterior, I am more diverse, Mguires, Armor All, Turtle Wax products, Dollar Store aerosol can glass cleaner is the best stuff on earth. I would like to find "new car smell in a can" if it exists.

Thanks everyone for your input. My dealer told me to use a product which is alcohol free. Do you know any product.

Drive with your windows closed and inside air circulation. My Speed3 had the smell intact for over 2 years.

i love that smell
what your smelling is all the glue and fresh plastic smell
if you have leather keeping leather conditioner on it will keep some of the smell
never smoke in your car, or haul pizza! lol

Not an armorall fan. Have found that it causes plastics to squeak at mating points. I usually use the damp chamois that I used to wipe the car down. Like someone else said today's plastics aren't like yesterday's they don't really need much upkeep beyond wiping them down. Sometimes I wonder if the care care industry is getting a bit antiquated myself. I say just have the cars coated with teflon and be done with it. :-).

Of course then you wouldn't be able to enjoy washing down the car and waxing it.

Armor All is not recommended. It's bad for the plastics as it gets in the plastic and breaks it down over time. Wipe the dash down with a cloth to clean dust. Use a damp cloth if you need.

Also, there are many interior plastics cleaners that are safe to use on modern plastics and leave no shine. What they do leave is an anti-static finish so your dash will actually repel dust between cleanings.

Einszett makes this stuff:

For a years worth of reading material, google "armor all is not good" or "armor all damages" to see folks get all bent out of shape both for and against armor all.

I don't know about all you owners, but I have a 2007 and it still has a scent. But what I smell is not the adhesives, etc... I'm pretty sure I can still smell the leather.

Or maybe it is the equivilent of burnt toast and I'm about to have a heart attack with all the little problems I'm finding out about this vehicle that I just bought a week ago.
