BMW adding new models: X6, X1, BMW GT and PAV arriving by 2012

BMW will be adding three new 44s to its lineup within the next three years. Of course the first addition will be the much anticipated X6 crossover. That will be followed by the already confirmed BMW X1 and the long rumored Minis 44 Colorado.

Speaking at BMWs annual press dinner last night, UK managing director Jim ODonnell confirmed that all 44s will hit the markets by 2010. As you already know the X6 will be in dealerships next year. ODonnell says that the Mini SUV will be ready sometime in 2009. He said that the BMW X1 was still in development phase and may be ready by 2010.

ODonnell also confirmed that BMW will be building the Concept CS as a GT car within the next five years. The production version of the Concept CS will become a new flagship for the BMW brand. The car is expected to fit above the 7-Series in BMWs lineup powered by V8 and V12 engines. Pricing is expected to come in around 80,000.

Besides the BMW will also be adding a PAV, Progressive Activity Sedan, that will arrive in 2012. The car is expected to fit under the 7 and 6-Series and is expected to be built on the 5-Series platform.

I'm going on record as saying that the X6 is going to be the most worthless automobile ever produced. SUV with a coupe roofline? Fantastic thinking BMW. Let's take everything that's remotely good about SUVs and throw it out the window.

isnt that pretty much the same concept as the CX-7?

^And the Infiniti FX35/45.

There are rumors about the 1 series being expanded to include a sports sedan and sports wagon.

yeah, and...that looks like a BMW version of a CX-7, Murano, FX35...

The roofline on all of those doesn't slope nearly as much as this. It dips down to the bottom of the side windows, beginning behind the front row of seats. At least those, while not having a great deal of cargo space, wait until after the rear seats to slope down. This might as well have a trunk back there.

Hmmmm.... 1-series sportwagon.... I hope we get that eventually. Sedan looks ugly though. At least from that angle.

Agreed. Sportwagon is hot (almost looks like a stretched 1G M-coupe), sedan is even more awful than the coupe.
