New BC Suspension Install

I think it has to be 32 or 35 offset since EVO's run the same offset with 17x8" stock rims all around.

What does the wheel run by a completely different manufacturer's car on a completely different chassis have to do with the protege??

not that i'm implying that but , i'll have to do some measurements with tape once i see my neighboor's EVO in the street.

i'm not wheel guru but the site that gives you some specs about different sizes gave me the idea that what i'm saying will work.

i think what Andrew is saying, is that you can't compare the fitment of those wheels on the Evo to the fitment on a Protege. I'm telling you, +32 will stick out of the wheel well.

Is the stock MSP offset +50 or +55?

Racing Harts are 17x7 +55 - they actually rub the inner fender in the rear when weighed down. I'm thinking about picking up some 1/8" spacers but I'm not sure if I'd need longer studs or not..

on a scale of 1-10 how hard is it to put on new shocks and springs?

Depends, how good are you with a wrench? For a beginner I'd say 7 or 8 (or 10, thinking back to before I knew how to change my spark plugs), but if you've been around tools and cars for a while, maybe a 3 in terms of complexity. Just takes some time. We swapped springs on my P5 in just a hair under an hour once with 3 of us who knew what was going on working on it lol

ok thanks well i am good with this stuff and my friend and his dad are going to help (his dad is a mechanic) but i get so ansey i just wont to get them on... i have done my brakes and oil changes on my and my moms car so i have some idea of what needs to be done thanks

the only thing to watch out is the endlinks. they can be a pain if it's the first they're coming off.

for the record, regarding tires and wheels, the 17x7.5 +48 with 245/45 will not even mount. Even with 6mm of spacers the tires rubbed to point the wheel would not spin. I'm guessing i'll need at most a +40 to fit the 245s

Man, will a +40 mm offset even fit without sever modification? I'd imagine a 245 tire on a +40 mm wheel would stick out quite a bit?

probably. fenders will definitely be rolled, and maybe even flared. I'm looking at maybe running 16s instead. Anyone know of a 16x8.5 wheel?

I think stocks are +45 for sure.

I am aware that it will stick out but thats the only way to fit 8" wide rim with 235 wide tire in there in order to fit EVO8's brakes (evil).

So what if it sticks out a bit, some cars have that and it looks good why not MSP

Rogue, you got your BC springs set up bc you auto-x mostly but for a DD and street race will i need 8kg/cm front and 8kg/cm rear or just leave the rear's as they come 4kg/cm , (I know you can bump up 2kg/cm by adj. the spring but if i need stiffer spring i'd rather get new one).

For daily, I'd got with 4 or 6kg/mm.

You cannot change the spring rate by adjusting the spring perch. It is not recommended to change the spring perch to adjust the ride height either.

i am considering this to be my next big mod to my car. how long did the install take you? these would go on my DD so i cant really be w/o a car for more then 2 days.

Unless you have a ton of rust, doing a suspension on one of these shouldn't take more than a couple hours. Last time we did my car it took us an hour using regular struts / springs, so you had to disassemble the thing to swap the springs, which you don't have to do with the BCs. If it's your first time doing suspension and don't have an electric impact / air tools (not strictly necessary, just make disassembly easier), budget another couple.

Budget an hour per corner if this is your first time. Also get a nice long breaker bar, because sometimes even an impact gun isn't enough.

if you can, ask a shop to break loose your endlink bolts. I was able to do the whole swap in about 2 hours by myself, but it was about the 6th time I've done a suspension install on my car.
