new and have a few questions.

Hey how's it going. I'm new to the forum and also new to the Mazda world. My wife and I recently became owners of a 5spd 02 P5 and it need a couple things. First off it needs a speed sensor. Near as I can tell there is no ABS on the car and its the tranny mount one. I'll b the first to admit I've never done it before nor am I overly mechanically inclined. I know my Honda but that's cuz I've had it for years. I'm willing to do the work myself but I cant seem to find a manual for the car itself. I've searched everywhere for anything I can find and have come up SOL. I've even checked the stickied page n nothing bout a speed sensor. So anyone plz have help

You may just have a bad connection on the speed sensor wire,... check both ends of that wire and its connector,...

The guy we got it from had it checked n said the sensor was bad he just never got around to it. I'm also one of those ppl whonneed a picture to help guide me. Lol . not that that doesn't help jus i need to physically see it.

I don't know much about it,... my car has ABS,...

If I recall correctly, it's a little plastic gear that is driven by the transmission internally.

I don't know if you just pop in a new one if yours is broken.

You may have to crack open your tranny to install a new one ???


This topic usually came up when someone needed to add the gear to their replacement tranny because they didn't have ABS or wanted to plug the hole because they did have ABS.
