New 2025 CX-5 Premium Plus Owner

Good afternoon boys and girls,

I just purchased a new 2025 CX-5 Premium Plus (non-turbo) in Machine Gray with the Parchment color interior. This selection was made after deciding we really didn’t like our 2024 Hyundai Tucson Limited Hybrid. It only had 6,704 miles at trade-in. The features of the **Angelic Choir** and **Back the Dump Truck Song** were things I couldn’t stand. Financially, not the smartest thing I’ve done this week. But why drive a vehicle you really don’t like? Enough about the old car.

Today we start a new adventure in our 2025 CX-5 “fun to drive” vehicle. Never owned a Mazda until yesterday. Spent weeks researching car reviews on YouTube. Test drove a few before seeing the CX-5s on a dealership’s lot.

Being a car and truck enthusiast for nearly 60 years (I’m 72) this could be my last car purchase. I hope the learning curve isn’t too steep and soon becomes seamless. Let the **ZOOM ZOOM** adventure begin!

Gusto!

Wait a minute! You can't make a comment like "The features of the **Angelic Choir** and **Back the Dump Truck Song** were things I couldn’t stand." without explaining what the hell you're referring to. That's just not kosher!

Apparently, you’ve never owned a Hybrid. The Angelic Choir is the manufactured sound to let people on the street hear you as you approach. It is designed to let everyone nearby know you are passing by. Otherwise, it is considered too quiet and might have the general public walk out in front of you.

The “Backup soun” from a truck backing up is part of the safety features required to warn anyone within 200 ft a hybrid is backing up. Otherwise at slow speeds you can’t hear anything. This falls under the guidelines of safety first.

All hybrids can be completely stealth without the assistance on manufactured, no matter how load or obnoxious, they must be.

Enjoy your new CX5!

Great car and it sounds like you did your homework in advance this time so you should know what you’re in for.

Just remember that these forums tend to be a venue for people who have problems with their cars, plus the enthusiasts, and thus are not a true reflection of the actual experience that most owners will have.

That said it's also a great source, usually, of info on features, fixes if you do have problems, and servicing tips that can save you time and grief.

Yes, I know what you mean about hybrids. A Prius nearly ran me over when it was backing out of a carpark some years ago, before they had the reverse beeping. Bloody dangerous! Silent assassins!
