I have seen people looking for Protege 5's still for sale on the forums. Today, I spotted one. I was at the Gainesville, FL Mazda dealer to get some warranty stuff done to my wife's 02 B3000, and I spotted the last one on the lot. It has been there long enough for the rotors to have the rust problem on the hub part os the brake rotors. Anyway, still has new car sticker on it, and it is indeed brand new. The 03 has no roof rack. It is white with black leather, 5 speed transmission. The wheels are the stock silver. It was a bummer to see it next to all the new 3's. I have no idea what they really want for it. The sticker was 18 grand or so. That may be why it is still on the lot.

I found a used 2002 P5 a few days later and have been extremely happy with my purchase since. Just a shame I wasn't a few days earlier for one of the new ones.
In MN 2 weeks ago there were 3 new P5's left that I could find, 1 was bought by my mother. They were all considerably reduced, around 4-5k of the sticker. According to one sales person I was talking with, the area mazda dealers agreed to all take that much off, surprised that one you saw was still going for so much.

That is how I got mine, the sticker was $18,215, but I got my brand new 2003 Protege 5 for $13,800 including tax, title, and license.

Yes, if that is for a brand new one then it seems fair enough. You might be able to talk him down to right under 14, or at least 14.

What makes me want to cry is when I went back to the dealer to get my free tank of gas like a month later, they had a Yellow MSP with 6,900 miles for like $16,000. Man...

I basically negotiated the price to 14 even then had them take off the $100 BS fee to get me to $13,900. You should try to get the same deal, if not a better one

Yeah, it was! So you got it for $13,900? Was that out the door with taxes & title? I'm new the the state and don't know what the taxes and title would add up to? Can you tell me what to expect? Who did you deal with?
nah, that was the deal b4 taxes and tags. The OTD price was like $14,700. The tax is 5% and the tags were a total of like $150.

Thanks for the heads up on the Taxes & tags, I'll have to talk to my credit union tomorrow about the car loan now! Hopefully, everything goes well... I'll keep ya posted.
