NEPOC MEET: Kent CT - 8/13/05

not sure we can make 9:30?? we're leaving at 7? it's like 3.5 hours from my house?

Whatever, it's just an example. I'm just throwing it out there.

As I mentioned before...

Having meet points is great but I don't want to be sitting around in a parking lot for a 1/2 hour 45 minutes waiting for other groups to show up. I'd rather just get to the park and hang out.

I know it sounds harsh but the people coming from eastern mass have a long trip and I don't want to turn a 3.5 hr trip into a 4.5 hr trip because we are waiting around in a hotel parking lot for other groups to show up. Depending on travel speed, traffic, and how long it takes for us to meet up with other people in eastern mass, it will be really hard to predict what time we will arrive at exit 84.

I'm not saying we shouldn't stop if people are ready to go when we drive by, but I don't want people waiting around for us if we're running late and if we're incredibly early, I'd rather just keep on driving so we have more time to relax at the park.

Exit 39, rt 4, at the light, take a right, go down about 1/4 mile to the Farmington Marriot.

That can be our first spot to meet up. I suggest we set a window that everyone should aim for, like 9a-930a.

Gas prices are way to high in that area, so make sure everyone fills up ahead of time, otherwise, expect to pay out the nose. Gas is cheap in Torrington.

No speeding, burnouts, or other showing off because the farmington/avon cops are wicked dicks, especially after that 20+ car crash from last week.

no places to meet if you just go straight through the light off the exit since thats where we will be headed anyways?

i hear ya chris, when we did the stanley park meet i don;t think we waited for anybod longer than a few mins, really. it was rather amazing we caought up with everyone and it was pretty good, or as much as i remember?? i think it will work and if we wait a few mins and they don't show we're outta there. plus with talking on the cell you know who's doing what and where they are...i don;t mind waiting a few mins here and there...30 mins, no way..

Farmington, on a saturday morning, no way. Any time after 8am and that place is jammed. It usually doesn't thin out until after the farmington river (outside of Unionville center - beware of construction).

bad news. can't make it saturday for the third Kent Falls meet. i have some final wedding stuff I have to get done sat morning up in New Hampshire.

seems like something always comes up for the kent meet????

okay, sign up for pick up on the caravan...if you want, no pressure

i'll be coming up 495 to 90 to 84 with jeremy leaving at 7:00 and picking up bruce in mansfield @ 7:20ish, we can stop at any exit and on the pike at the rest areas, let me know where your going to be and try to fit into the time frame.. pm me with cell numbers so we can call ahead and coordinate the pick ups, should be piece of cake

495/90 interchange @ 7:45ish
rte 84 @ 8:30 ish

Eastern MA Caravan...

7:00 Mark and Jeremey depart
7:20ish Pickup Bruce in Mansfield
7:40 Pickup Chris on 495 between exit 18 and pike
7:45 Turnpike (Rte 90)
...
8:30 Rte 84
...

Mark, give me a call (PM me for my number if you don't have it from last time) when you pass exit 17. I will hop on 495 and you should catch up to me before we reach the pike.

I encourage others to do the same. Provide your phone number and the exit before your rest area or on-ramp and we will call. Once you get the call, hop on the highway and drive like an old woman. When you see the caravan approach pull in behind. This will keep everyone moving.

yeah my car wont be fixed for the meet, but who cares, anybody got a spare drivers corner lens for a 99-00 protege????? that they can bring, and ill pay you for it????

I would suggest a Western CT caravan but it seems unnecessary :D Kent Falls is like 20 minutes from me weee zoom-zoom. I'm staying home all this week for this meet haha.

FYI: I was just up at Kent Falls. Theres a huge orange fence blocking off a good chunk of land near the falls.

Again, if anyone is traveling by Torrington on your way up....give me a holler.

maybe thats a good sign for us, park will be less busy, more likely we will all have room :)

you could meet up with us when our caravan crosses 8, but i dont know where that will be and have even less clue as to WHEN

If you people take RT 8 North and get off at Exit 42 (towards Litchfield) I could meet you all at the commuter lot to the right hand side of the exit. Just a thought... I'll pm anyone my # thats willing to caravan with me up there...

i wouldnt mind caravaning but i am usure which way to take from where i live. i could meet people around route 8 or 84. i live off the merrit near ny but i have to look at directions tomorrow see where the place is and whats the easiest route.

could we take a fun run in the afternoon? its just what came to mind since we have many protege owners i think it would be nice to hit up some twisties but thats just me.
