Neo Ion problem with '05 Mazda 6

I read all the posts about the Neo Ion and hooking up your iPod to your factory Bose stereo. A lot of good information in this forum. I have a '05 Mazda 6 and an iPod Video. The Ion was a bit pricey but sounded like a winner so I ordered it. I installed it (wasn't hard at all) and it seemed to work. I was able to change tracks with the steering wheel, it paused when I switched to the radio or CD, and it charged while being hooked up. Then I drove my car. It worked fine while driving but if I switched to another source for a long time the iPod never went into sleep mode. It paused but never went to sleep. But that wasn't the big issue. The big issue is that I'd shut my car off, the iPod would pause, but it would stay in paused mode. It would show the song, title, artist, track time, and be paused and it would stay that way for as long as I left it plugged in. I'd drive to work, come out 9 hours later, and it's still sitting there as if I just paused it. I knew something wasn't right. I contacted mp3yourcar.com and they were puzzled. They offered some suggestions (checking the firmware, resetting the ipod) all of which I did to no avail. They said they hadn't heard of that issue with any other Mazda customers they had so they offered to send me another unit. Two weeks later I got a new unit. I hooked it up, hoping their comments that my issues was most likely a bad unti, would be correct. No such luck. Same thing happened. I've since tried contacting mp3yourcar.com again but haven't had as much luck in reaching anyone for a resolution. I did get one email saying they thought it was my radio. While nothing is impossible I don't see how it can be my radio. I have a factory Bose unit with the in dash changer. Standard and I'm sure other customers of theirs have the same unit. And my stereo is working fine otherwise. My iPod is working fine otherwise. The issue must be the unit but they are out of suggestions.

Is anyone else having a similar problem? I really thought I had found my solution for hooking up my iPod to my car as the iTrip, Belkini Tune FM, and other transmitters all sucked. You can imagine my frustration and disappointment that this is happening. If anyone has any suggestions, for this product or for similar products to try, I'm all ears. I'm desperate. Thanks.

You might try to find out what software your stereo is using (there's some combination of buttons you can hit to display that) and find out if the Neo Ion is fully compatible with that version.
