NEMOC Random BS Thread

Took my first big digger on my rollerblades tonight. Tried to stop on a downhill instead of zooming across a street with potential cars. Should have just gone across the street. Instead I tried to grab one of the poles at the edge of the trail, swung myself around, and lost my balance. Some old couple saw it happen and the guy gave me a 10. Then his wife went and got me some paper towels and a wet nap. At least there are some nice people out there still.

Here's the majority of the damage:

I was using the brake... couldn't stop fast enough.. Seems to be my biggest problem. These are new rollerblades and they roll about 100000X better than my old ones. I'm still not used to the speed they can get up to.

I haven't rollerbladed in ages. I do remember how awful the brakes are though. I always tried avoiding big hills.

Ouch Jenn. Hope you are ok.

ribs eh?

did they used a traditional ketchup based bbq sauce, or did you go carolina style with a mustard based sauce? :)

Only reason I ask is I got hooked on the mustard based sauce when I was down there in august.

Annnnd ouch. That looks like it hurts. A lot.

Booked my flight to CA...am officially leaving late on the 30th, layover in DC, then getting to LAX around 1, and back to my brother's apt at 2am. Going to meet with a client on the 1st (never met her, very excited) then see the sights, do some hiking, etc.

Leaving at the ass-crack of dawn on the 2nd, homeward bound.

This is what we'll be driving:

And this is our route, mostly:

Should be a blast...and I'll finally be able to drive in that elusive Nebraska:

i'm flying TO ca though, so you're making the same trip, but in reverse. Hey uh...if you're in CA on the 1st...we should meet up, hahaha...NEPOC meet in Cali!

Annnnd ouch. That looks like it hurts. A lot.

I didn't whimper until I was trying to use rubbing alcohol to clean out the wound. I was PISSED when I did it. There was even a skid mark on the pavement that dried... I'm guessing that was a few layers of skin. Most of the pain is gone and my knee is starting to grow now, haha. It's like having another quarter of a kneecap sticking out the side. (braindead

Jenn, ouch on the fall! Hope you heal up quick. Hydrogen peroxide on that wound is how we did it back in motha russia, but a quick google search now reveals that's not recommended...

Ash, what kind of stops are planned along the trip? Playing it by ear?

Got done with the P5 brakes today. Front pads replaced, old pads were down to about 4-5mm in the front. The rears are still 5-6mm, so left those alone. Flushed the brake fluid w/ some Valvoline synthetic DOT4. Replaced the EGR. Added some negative camber in the front that was removed when the wheel bearing was replaced, but now it needs a toe realignment. Was missing dust cap on one of the calipers for the bleeder screw as well as the locking hex screw, so need to find a source for those. Hoping the car will pass inspection tomorrow.
