NEMOC Random BS Thread

Just watched the American Top Gear episode on the new Honda CR-Z. They came to the same conclusion as the auto magazines. Jack of all trades, master of none. The Fit is cheaper and gets better mileage. The Prius/Insight get much better mileage. In sport mode it is fun, but not super sporty but the stick shift is a nice touch. And without a back seat, it doesn't have much utility. But still, it's a pretty hot looking hatch. I'd certainly pick this as a commuter car over some of the other options out there and with Amanda considering a new ride I'm tempted to go test drive it....but without the back seat, it would basically be a toy, not a practical vehicle for anything except commuting.

I start my new job tomorrow in Cambridge, so what happens today? I'm starting to get a cold...stuffy nose, sore throat, etc. Drinking tea, taking ibuprofin and going to bed early tonight. Hopefully it's just from overdoing it today and nothing major (rode 1.5hours on my trainer this morning, then did a ton around the house).

Also, client I did a site for wants me to do another site and logo, AND she sent the last payment for the other work out so I'll be getting a nice check this week.

Time to order silencer/HID bulbs.
morning ya'll....good luck today ash, hope you feel better too!

I've been following all the reports and magazine reviews on the Honda CR-Z. It's becoming a huge failure for Honda in the US. In fact, Honda in general is starting to feel real heat from the likes of Hyundai and Kia. BTW - The Honda Element is being dropped from the lineup. Awwwww. :(

On another note...signed on new video projects for Hillshire Farm and Kelloggs, as well as website design for local high-end floral shop. Giggity!

Not yet...should I remove the plastic undercarriage protector beforehand if I do? Is it safe to let the water spray up into the rest of the engine bay?

I would try the wash with it in place 1st and see how it does. Not sure about taking it off.

Morning all. Feel better Ash, I have been under the weather lately myself. Damn kids.

Anyone buy their MegaMil lottery ticket?

Morning Bruce!

Nah, I rarely play the Lotto. I've only won once when I was in college on scratch tickets.

It's too bad, because it is a nice looking car. They should have had more engine options. If they dropped the Fit engine in it and lowered the price they would sell like hotcakes. Likewise if they threw a turbo-4 or V6 in it the tuners would be all over it. But as a hybrid it just doesn't appeal, especially when it doesn't even get good mileage. The original Honda Insight got 60mpg and the base level CRX could get 40+ if you took it easy. No one is going to look twice at a car that only seats two and gets 35 mpg.

Bummer about the Element. It's a nice car for the right crowd...but something like that doesn't market itself. You have to remind people that it exists and is much more than an oversized xB. I hate seeing cars die out because of poor marketing.

Morning folks!

and styling...i think it's rather ugly myself...

Looks like I am getting MSP front brakes! Only downfall is I will have to repaint them and paint my rears.....But 130 shipped for the calipers, barely used rotors and pads......way better than the 240 I was going to spend and even after buying the rear pass caliper and paint I will be under that! Just waiting for scratchnsniff to get back to me.....He's waiting on someone else, if they dont want them they are mine!

As long as they come with the proper brackets to mount them, that's a damn good deal. I paid $390 for my setup when i did it.
