Need suggestions (RE: car)

Hey guys-

My buddy recently got his car door hit and got an estimate for $900. His car is a '96 Mercury Sable with 70K miles and probably not worth much. He wants to know if he should fix it or just run it to the ground? I thought I'd toss this one out there for your input and/or suggestions. Thanks.
