Need suggestions for wheels...

I have a 2011 Mazda 3 iTouring sedan, and want to lower it around 2". I am hoping to go to 18" wheels, but my tire shop here says that it will rub too bad without the right offset. I see people have 18" installed, and was wondering what offset I should be looking for in order to make it work well. I am contemplating going with coil overs instead of just springs so that I can go as low as I can without rubbing, but have to justify the extra cost. Any help would be great. Any pics would be great too if someone has this done already.

18x8 +48 with lowering springs, no rub.

But if you buy springs, you'll wear out your stock shocks faster, so at some point you'll want to go with coilovers anyway.
