Need Off-Road/Soft-Road Help! Adjustable suspension? Softer shocks? Trade in? WAT DO?

I'd go with an all terrain softer riding tire and air it down a little for those conditions. It won't make a huge difference but it will make a big difference. Only downside to doing this is you'll lose your good on road handling a bit. Of any one single component that you can change, tires definitely make the biggest difference in ride, handling, and traction balance. AWD won't help with the ride but it will help if you are losing traction to the point where it's dangerous or inconvenient. Still you need the right tire for the conditions even with AWD.

Make sure you also have the basic survival tools and supplies in case you ever do get stranded. Having an ATV on the property isn't a bad idea either. If I had to trade in my CX5 than I'd seriously consider a 4WD pickup truck like the Silverado or the RAM. With a pickup truck you would be able to haul anything, plow, and have 4WD. As much as I like my CX5 I still miss my pickup. My 2001 Tundra was also way quieter than my Mazda.
