hmmm, guess I'm missing something because I've never heard of brand name Premier Camera's, and I've seen better deals.

Are they supposed to be good or something?

I'm personally sticking with Sony/Canon/Fujitsu/ and maybe Nikon brands.

This sucker puts out high quality pictures on the real though! I saw some at work. When the pictures are blown up, I was able to see a damn bee pretty damn clear. For $349, and the features you get.....hard to beat.

I'd like to say that I have the Fuji 3800 and love it. Easy to use, hella zoom, and even uses normal batteries..

The 2 downsides are 1) it's not small and 2) I haven't figured out how to do good night shots yet without using a tripod or something (but that's prolly just me)

Can't beat it for the price. ZOOM-ZOOM!

How about, indoors, with all the lights on, at night? Same thing? Should be ok I'd figure.

My other complaint would be that the fuji's color isn't as strong as say the canon.

But I do like the fuji so far would be the batteries....but, that's not really a concern to me. These special battery packs in other camera's concern me in the sense that if I'm somewhere, and I run out of juice, and i need to take more pics....I'm screwed. You can buy batteries anywhere, and 4 AA NiMH rechargeables are really cheap. On the other hand, they don't last as long as a battery pack on some camera's....damn, this isn't easy.

In order to get good night shots, you need a tripod, unless you set the iso to the fastest setting (probably 400) and then put the camera in (T)ime Value mode (If you camera has multiple user settings) that was you can set the time of the exposure to be a faster (shutter speed) ... but the DOF depth of feild won't be the greatest .. bottom line use the tripod for night shots. you images will be 100% sharper,
I use tripods for night shots on my digi and my cannon eos ellan2e (35mm)

put it this way ,, my sony uses a battery pack ok..
now if I had my camera and you had yours that used say: recharchable (2)AA batt.
you would go through your 2 AA's and about another 4 to 5 sets of batteries , before my battery pack would be dead...

worse for day shots with no flash and I turn off the LCD ,,, it's a wrap then ..

the sony battery packs and the cannon battery packs simply OWNZ everything ....
it's not difficult

I'm gonna stand up for the rechargable batteries. Yes, packs are nice and they do last longer but.....that really shouldn't be the selling point from one camera to the next. If you've got 2 cameras with the same features and you'd be happy with either than get the one with the pack. If you get a camera that takes AA's then you the Rayovac NIMH rechargables. I've read a big study on it and they turned out to be the best. They have thier own 1 hour charger and arn't expensive. I've got many many sets in my camera bag. And, unlike almost all battery packs, it's not going to set you back 50+ dollars to get more sets of batteries.

I just wanted to stick up for the rechargables
By the way, I have an Olympus C700 Ultra Zoom. It's got a 10x optical zoom with that, I've never relied on my digital zoom. Yes, it's only a 2.0 MP but, I don't need more

yeah, I know a tripod would be ideal, but I bring my camera out to a bunch of our car meets and the only way I can seem to get a decent shot of stuff is to lay it on something and pray nothing moves..

most of the ones shot of the grey car are, the Dakota and black car were shot mostly with my friend's little cannon elph which the screen no longer works on.

but it's great for dropping into your pocket and taking it palces to get people shots. the 3800 is a big big for that.

oh yeah, all of those I took were on the LOWEST setting... All I do is post them on message boards anyway.

All of these pics taken here were taken with a Fuji cam that was sub megapixel ,, like 800,000 MP or so ....

The pictures on the front page of this site were taken with a 1MP or so . Fuji camera.. you can see it here.. only downside. it did not do movies with sound...
click on the yellow civic and go into both of the two links... And you will see what a 1MP will do ... just imagine a 4MP lol

The flash on our camers can't project that much light, they are mainly ment for close objects, indoor highlights, and in daytime can be used to brighten the face of someone wearing a hat..

For all of the pics you need a tripod. no way of getting around it . especially the night shot with the flash ,, you should have used a tripod and turned the flash off.. told em all to keep still and don't frigin move ... you must do what you have to do to get the shot... Honestly I don't even thing you would have gotten that great a shot if you even tried to use (A) apperature value..
Which cam do you have again . let me back track and look it up on dpreview and see what features you have... But bro definetly get a tripod ,,,...

For the earlier pic , you needed a mini tripod .. that would have been great, that way you could have angled the shots a bit better and crop out some of the concrete ... but otherwise. they look sweet to me ....

My dad used to make me shoot in (M)anual mode all the time , lol . So I learned quite a bit like that .....

what exactly is a mini-tripod? I'm intrigued... with some of those, can you angle the camera? There are several different setting you can change with this camera, and mostof them I have not messed with yet, but I'm trying..

We generally have about 10-15 cars out with us each Wedesday night, and I like to get some good shots of what's going on, but only some of them work... (did you see the sky in the 3rd gen shots?)

I see where the problem is with your camera ...
It's the iso setting ... it only has one 100 and that's it ...
other camers tend to give you 3 and more 100/200/400

on the other hand , they give you a shutter speed of 1/1500 of a sec .
I just checked out the stats and your camera gives you (A)perature priority but not (S)hutter priority...

So you will have to use (A) to try and get night shots. If by hand then you can set the (A) until you get the highest Shutter speeds. Adjusting the (A) should make the shutter speeds change.
I am getting some info from Steves Digicams Website. On that page you will see something like a flipping movie .. on that movie you'll see the lcd screan go to A*Priority .. that is what you will have to use to try and get the fastest shutter speeds at night hand holding the camera ...
You can also use a Tripod and this same (A) mode and use maybe 3 stops from the lowest (A) you can find... the lowest would be f2 (or lowest f number) ..

Those look great IMO . looks like you used a tripod with moderate to slow shutter speeds. If you have the space on the memory stick I would set the RES all the way to the highest and take line up shots.. that way you make sure you get everyone's car , you can always crop it later lol ....
but I think those pics look awesome.. that is what iso 100 will do on a tripod or something sturdy .. just sharp

Look into some of the Nikon Cams ,, they are nice to but I hear that are a bit flimsy construction wise... my dad told me this, I did not see for myslef, he has a G2 ...

Also try and go by a store and hold the camera in your hand ,, see if your comfy with it ... go by your local photo shop ... and check out some of the cams... wright down the model numbers and what not and then go home and check out the model and specs and then decide from there....
