need help with my 03 protege!!

i have a check engine light that comes on sometimes then goes off at times, i can smell some exhaust fumes in the car at times.. and if i get on it and let off sometimes the car cuts off.. does anyone know anything about these signs?

go to advanced to check the dtc (diagnostic trouble code) with a scan tool
