Need help with MSP purchase...

Hello everyone. As you can see, this is my first post here, but I've visited the forums a number of times in the past. I've always been interested in the MSP (as well as other "factory performance" vehicles, being a former Integra Type R owner) and have now decided to purchase one as soon as possible. I've located two in my area that are in relatively good condition with similar milage and pricing. The main difference is that one is a 2003 and one is a 2003.5. I've done some research on these cars, but I'm still very new to them. Basically, I could use some assistance in choosing between the two. Aside from the obvious aesthetic differences (i.e., the paint colors and different rear spoiler), are there any significant differences that make one model more desirable than the other? I'm sure both are excellent, so I'm simply looking for some unbiased information to help me with my decision. Cosmetically, I like both cars more or less equally, so the information I receive here will most likely be the deciding factor. Thank you in advance, and I look forward to being a contributing member and MSP owner in the near future. (hi)

The only difference I know of is the 03.5 is supposed to have a stronger clutch. I've heard this but don't know if there is any truth to it.

I have never heard of the clutch being different. but as far as I know, the colors and the spoiler are the only difference. I think I heard about mazda changing the part number for the LSD to make it stronger or something.

There are no 'real' differences. I'd talk to a guy like Dr. Sound on these boards since he has owned both a 2003 and a 2003.5.

Thanks everyone. Also, I'm curious what most people consider a reasonable price for one of these vehicles. Assuming it's in good condition with low milage (less than 30k), is $17,000 more or less the average? I've found a few more expensive and a few less expensive, and I obviously don't want to pay an excessive amount for the vehicle. Thanks again.

Either model is good. But, I would get the model that is in better condition and has the lowest mileage. I paid $18000 for mine (2003.5) with 6,000 miles on it last year. Probably could have had it for $17000 or a little less. I kind of pounced on the deal because I was surprised the dealer had one in such immaculate shape and with such low mileage. They had another one at another lot across town for about the same price, but it was a 2003 orange model with 18,000 miles. I would have been happy with either one, but it was the lower mileage of the 2003.5 that sold me.

Color choice....How much attention do you want? Orange, and yellow are sure to attact. Although they spoiler on 03.5's is a major attraction too.

I pd 18000 with 7500mi about a yr ago. Check the marketplace and autotrader.com for comparisons on price and mileage. BTW you have pm.
